I don't think it will, God of War 3 was the big finale, the point where we fought Zeus, here it doesn't have that. I can see it selling the same as God of War 2 though.

According to Vgchartz God of War III is at 4.46 million. You, like most normal people would, forgot to include the Trilogy editions sales which included a copy of God of War III and sold 120k.
I know God of War III is heavily undertracked, one example being according to Vgchartz GOW: Chains of Olympus sold almost 100K more in the rest of the world than 3 which is 100% impossible. Also because even when God of War 3 was in the top 10-20 best selling games in Amazon/Gamestop/ Best buy/ Walmart etc., for many weeks from and after black friday, the sales for GOW3 didn't pick up at all according to Vgchartz which is silly, not even during the xmas holidays did it's sales rise noticeably like every other game. I think God of War III is a lot closer to 5 million than Vgchartz would have you believe, I'm waitng for a response from Sony/develpers for details on sales information... Been waiting for 2 weeks now. :(
And I think God of War: Ascension will sell at least 1 million more than 3 lifetime, so if God of War III will reach around 5.15-5.30m lifetime, God of War: Ascension will reach between 6.15-6.50 m, especially if Sony makes an effort this time to actually advertise it (3 had no advertisement) and they bundle it as massively as Uncharted 3 (God of War 3 released during a PS3 shortage and was hardly bundled at all). Even so God of War III broadened the franchise's audience massively, the God of War fan page on Facebook is larger than any other Sony exclusive by miles with more than 2,600,000 fans, most of which will buy the game within the first week of release and spread the word of how amazing it is to everyone which will ensure the game will continue to sell for years due to great word of mouth.
No I don't think so but it will probably be very close, I'm guessing right at about 4 million LT maybe slightly less.
Its not a numbered game in the series and isn't a direct finale to the game like GOW3 was. Still will be very successful though and should have a fantastic 1st week.
Not being a numbered sequel isn't going to hurt sales. See Halo Reach.
It probably will. God of War has a good rep and a decent following. Very iconic moving into this gen. A multiplayer will appeal to many people and might lure people in who dread single player only games, at least more than those that dread games with multiplayer added on, because that doesn't really stop too many people. The mulitplayer looks impressive, not your typical one since its a melee fighter. The gameplay might fit in well with PS All Stars coming out soon, another melee brawler. Probably will feed off each other for love of the genre.
Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(

the only issue I see the timing. It's towards the end of the gen so the game will have much less time that GOW3. So I don't think it will outsell it. BUT it will sell really well regardless. 3-4mil for certain

it will probably sell more because of the multiplayer it's going to have better legs and more replay value because of it
I'm going to vote.... yes.
The not having a 4 on the end of it is a worry, but look at Black ops... and people know that if they want PS3 god of war, this is it.

Depends on the reviews. If its as good as God of War 3 then maybe otherwise, no chance.
