I think people are hyping this game because it looks fantastic and it's really one of the few really exceptional things people can point to and be proud of concerning their console of choice. Judging either way at this point in time is pre-mature, but their is no reason (not even the track record of this game) that says this game won't be amazing. If you judge something before you actually play it you'll be just as silly as "theshoe23".

Where the hell are all these guys coming from saying that kz2 is going to be the best game and "beyond our imagination" and shit? The ps3 will have good games this year. but personally kz2 doesn't seem all that great! graphics don't matter! it's the gameplay!

how the hell was lair a good game?! what the hell happened in your universe!!!! i played it on my ps3 out of curiosity and my brother cracked it and i didn't get mad! i personally didn't care! i play my wii more than my ps3 and 360 even though it is not a graphics trojan horse!


also, kz2 will never be a halo type game, Ever!!! all the halo games were great! halo 2 was a minor step down but still great fun and loads of online.



killzone for ps2 sucks ass and for psp is only as good as maybe call of duty 1. (forget that statement, it will never be as great as any call of duty!)


now a game that is worthy of overhypeness is RESISTANCE 2!!! This game will blow kz2 into hell! r2 may end up being better than halo 3 because it is more like an mmo with 60 people! this game will rock! kz2 really is like another lair except it will be better. (like 70%-80% range on gamerankings.)

And with the budget of this game, it will need sales of well over 1M to get a return better than sticking all those millions in a savings account. 

it's the graphics

its just hype. I bought the first killzone based on hype and instead of shooting the monsters in the game i wanted to shoot the producer/director and who ever was in charge of physics,hit detection and no jump button

I was one of the casualties of sony's bs hype for that shitty game. boy, did i feel like a fucking retard!

Well, the leap from Grand Theft Auto 2 to Grand Theft Auto 3 was... Grand... So I guess Killzone 2 "could" end up being good... We will have to wait for the reviews.

Every now and then? I see them all the time, same with uncharted and the regular PS3 adds. PS3's really stepped up it's marketing budget. I see more of any one of those commercials than I see Wii or 360 commercials.

But yeah. It's hyped so much because it's rumored to cost anywhere between 2 and 3 times the price of your average blockbuster triple A budget.

Throw in advertising, and it's obvious Sony doesn't want to make money they want to turn Killzone into it's Halo or Mario.

I couldn't even imagine how much they'd have to sell to make back their money.

 Heavenly Sword had a budget of $20 million... I don't know what the net profit on ps3 games is but it seems like they would have to sell at least a million to break even and various publishes have given this figure for big-budget ps3 games. Stagnant sales of this game indicate, to me, that it will never reach 1 million unless Sony decides to pack it in with its console.

 From varying accounts, the budget for Killzone 2 is more (twice according to one) than HS. A low install base -- and the fact that only four games have topped 1 million worldwide leads me to believe that this game will result in massive losses for Sony. 

Kill Zone 1 is not really a bad game. It's got some good factors and some bad ones. It just wasn't the Halo Killer fans were hoping for.
