- Affirmative action: Some black guy less qualified than me will probably get the job just because of skin colour, since this is clearly the way to make things equal and makes more sense than "best man for the job" - Reverse Racism: It's perfectly fine for a black guy to call me a cracker/honkey, but if I call him the n word (it's funny how I'm even afraid to write it out in a forum like this in fear of a ban) then I'm the racist - Having my tax dollars go to support Native Aboriginals (A Canadian problem, not sure if it's similar worldwide) who don't pay taxes themselves. They don't work at all and have high rates of poverty, and the white man has to pay for it. A lot of them are alcoholics and/or addicted to oxycotin. And although it's their own fault, the white man gets blamed because we "stole" their land 400+ years ago, and another excuse/cop out they use is the residential schools we put them, the last of which were shut down over 20 years ago...but were being phased out way before that. Also Natives get better treatment in the criminal "justice" system, people of aboriginal descent are by law to get lighter sentences and avoid jailtime whenever possible.
Yeah I have to deal with all this shit since the generations before me were racists and owned slaves. I had nothing to do with it but my generation is suffering the consequences. |
Oh boo hoo, Affirmative Action, "reverse"-racism (there's no such thing as reverse-racism, it's all just racism) and having the government waste your money getting you down? As somebody who lost both scholarships and jobs to Affirmative Action, I can say that program is horrible but it is not the same as actually being afraid for your personal well-being. It is not the same as constantly having to endure hatred, ridicule and far more brutal discrimination. Do not pretend to understand and NEVER pretend that you have to deal with anything even approaching what a gay man has to. Personally, I despise Affirmative Action, all forms of racism as well as our government's handling of Native issues (by providing them with this money we ensure that no real solution will be created, that they remain in the appalling state that they currently exist in, all while acting as a burden on our budget and poison to race relations).
They could have just looked at talibans, pasdarans and the like to arrive to the same conclusions. Although talibans pose more questions than those they solve: why do they hate both gays and women? And why do they prefer to have sex with sheep, goats, donkeys and camels? And why after having sex with woman and other gays they despise them and they stone them to death and instead, after having sex with sheep, goats, donkeys and camels they still respect and love them?

What??? A newborn baby is well aware of its existence. And that mental handicap you're talking about does not exist. The rest is unreadable. |
really. so what about a 9 months old baby in the womb, is that aware of its existance? is that a person? what about 8 months, what about 7, 6, 5... so on. what is it, if not a human being?
so it arbitrarly has to know it exists for it to be a child? how do we test if it knows it exists. why does it have to know something for it to be a person. somehow this isnt a person to you
and my last sentance is suposed to read:
"What about a college grad who doesnt believe in absolutes, and cant even say if they for sure exist. is that a person? "
because of the philosophy class they took taught them, there are no absolute truths. SO when asked if they absolutely exists, they cannot answer. according to your standard, that "creature" is not a human being. what about if i deny my existance, i believe im not really here, none of this is real.
BTW, there's an even easier method than studying talibans:

I think so, yeah. Popular culture has become increasingly irreverent - obnoxiously so, I find, even as an agonistic with atheist leanings - and the internet has certainly been a big part of that. Juvenile memes like Zombie Jesus and the Flying Spaghetti Monster are just naturally more appealing to young people's self centered nature and desire to rebel and mock than a philosophy which emphasizes temperance and self denial. So it's completely unnecessary to use force to keep parents from "indoctrinating" their kids in any free society, let alone our modern society where anti-religious messages abound and the cultural pressure is to not be a believer.

Because camels are just noble creatures like that.

If you read the OP, it said 20%. So, you still have 4/5 of being straight. |
He was drawing attention to the fact that in the paper they associate "totally straight" with being "homophobic", which is an incorrect assumption given what these terms imply (I haven't read the paper though, so they could have defined these another way); 20% of these people having gay feelings is not what he was talking about.
I agree with him. I would class myself as totally straight as I've never been attracted to the same sex, but I certainly wouldn't call myself a homophobe by any means.
