Battlefield could greatly benefit from a higher time to kill. It's one thing when you have a low ttk game like COD where you're playing on small confined maps and the respawn time is just a couple of seconds, but when you spend a couple minutes trying to get back into the action just to get killed by a couple of shots by some guy you couldn't even see, that takes away a good chunk of enjoyment from the game.

Halo on the other hand not only could use a lower ttk rate, but a bit faster pace as well. It's almost painful going back to the sluggish pace of Halo games after spending any amount of time with COD.

Very true. That's what a friend of mine told me for CoD. At least CoD's gameplay works for CoD's maps and everything that makes up the game. Battlefield tried to take portion of CoD's gameplay and mix it in with Battlefield's gameplay and it just turned out to be a disaster. You can't just mix things blindly like that.

I prefer htk. I like how halo does it. you still have a chance to defend your self if your suprised. If you can manuver well you can get some epic battles. And you can have actual battles, it seems like in CoD you die to fast. Its just who ever find the other person first, no real chance to react and defend.

I don't care.. I use a railgun or sniperrifle so my enemies are fast dead anyway

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)

I prefer htk, fast running action, no regenerating health, unlimited weapon carrying. I've never really liked any of the modern shooters. Half-life death match and Unreal tournament were great. Long shootouts while running and jumping through the level with different weapons. Throw in some traps as well.

Depends. As a general rule, fast-paced games should have high TTK, slower games should have low TTK. It just doesn't feel right when you can run and jump around like crazy and then you die from a shot or two. And if gameplay is slow, it would feel pretty odd if you could take tons of damage. Of course rules have exceptions. Anyway, I like both faster and slower games so I can't really give only one answer.

Wait, Uncharted is a shooter?! Woh! I really missed something there.

Funny?

What's funny? I seriously thought Uncharted was an Adventure Game.

It is, with shooting mechanics. I wouldn't call it a shooter though as it has a big focus on platforming and melee combat aswell.

Ugh. If I make a game, I will make all snipers two shot kills.

I don't like being able to be killed with no response time... I'm not a fan of over realism (for example in an FPS I would prefer to be able to carry many weapons rather than being limited to say three and having to swap with other weapons)

As such, with sniper rifles, I think a headshot should constitute maybe 80-90% health loss. The only things that should be 1 shot kills are a direct close range shotgun blast to the head (ie the enemy is taking up half of your screen range) and very close range explosives (ie within a 30cm locus of your character, which basically would mean a direct hit with a rocket/grenade launcher)

Oh, and health packs > regenerating health.... though ultimately I think a combination would be best. e.g. your health regenerates, but only to a point. If you have 90% + health it will regenerate fully, 70-90% will regenerate 10%, 50-70% will regenerate 15% and so on.... but otherwise you need packs to get back to full.

I despise high TTK. That's the main reason I hate Gears of War and don't play Halo (even though I somewhat like it). I hate games where you pump a full clip into a guy's chest and he walks it off since it wasn't a headshot or whatever...I'm sorry all I shot up was his heart, liver, kidneys and lungs but not his brain...

I like low TTK because it's based on reaction time and quick aim rather than who can jump around more while getting headshots (Halo) or who can roll around more and then shotgun each other (Gears of War)

My favourite online shooters are Call of Duty 4 and Rainbow Six Vegas, both low TTK games.

Thanks for answering! That is all I needed.
