@Pie. I just hate his guts. He makes it impossible to agree.
I would continue if I had a chance to express myself, but no matter what I say, he rejects it. There's only so much I can do in front of him... I think I'm done. I have 0 desire to clarify my points with him anymore, he is just impossible to work with.

It is kind of odd how you used to love him.

he rejects your points mostly because they are either flawed or do not make any sense, at least from my point of view.
also i still fail to see anything cheesy about these screenshots at all.

Okay Rolstoppable, I've explained myself enough, now I want you to explain your case, why you think this is a troll thread exactly, and why you think I didn't care in the first place.
wow I can't believe I read all those replies.
In the end I see your point happyd, the game doesn't look "cared for" like what we had with SMG1&2, it doesn't feel new like when NSMB first came out. The game does kind of feel a bit like a quick cash in rather than a true effort to create something that really pushes the system.
You mentioned you liked what Capcom did with SFIV, that's when I really got what you meant. Based on this, I'll go ahead and guess that you probably also liked what Ubisoft did with Rayman Origins. I get where you're coming from and I see your point, but that's just not something most of us care about all that much.
I agree with what Rol said about you simply wanting Nintendo to make games with higher production values, and it's not an unreasonable wish. For example, I wish Nintendo would make a Pokemon game with 3D models instead of sprites with great animations, effects...etc. But the difference is that I give higher precedence to the actual game and core mechanics than the overall presentation, and I don't get upset about it. So yes, I'm really looking forward to getting Pokemon B&W (1&2 cuz my DS broke) even though the graphics are going to be very similar (unlike the case here where NSMB2 appears to be greatly improved over NSMB:DS presentation-wise).
In the end I'll just re-iterate what everyone else has been saying, if you don't like it or think it isn't worth your money, then don't buy it.

^At first I ignored your post, but then I figured you may have had something intelligent to say. Then I read a few lines lower and saw "sad". I was at line 3 of paragraph 1 when I finally decided, you're officially on my ignore list. |
Good, becuase I don';t want your attention. I just keep seeing this at the top of my forum buddy and out of sheer curiosity I check it becuase it has like 50 new replies every time I come here. All I see is a whole lot of graphics whores whining then proclaiming that they're not graphics whores. I don't read every post becuase it basically boils down to 'baww, you don't know me, don't judge me, here's some non-related arguments to explain why your assessment of me is inaccurate!"
Nintendo doesn't need to step anything up. They do what works while focusing on GAMEPLAY, which has done them very well this generation. Mario Galaxy, Donkey Kong Country Returns, New Super Mario Brothers, and basically every other game on the Wii that has been good has done so with mediocre or average graphics. Hell, pretty as Skyward sword was, compared to the stuff you get on PS3 and 360, it's pretty technically unimpressive. This counts in the same category.
I dont even know why I keep repeating myself. it's like I'm talking to a brick wall.

@mizzy
Thank you.
I loved Rayman Origins. The art design was spot on and the gameplay was in my opinion much better than NSMBWii.
You might find this funny, but I loved Donald Duck's "Goin Quackers" on the Cube. I mean, the presentation was okay, but the game played well and I generally enjoyed the experience. The presentation was good enough so as to keep me playing.
I always put gameplay before presentation, but there is an exception to the rule, and anyone genuinely interested in this thread, I'm making it mandatory for you to read this:
The exception to the rule is that when presentation is so bad in my eyes that it deters me from playing, that's where I find issue. For example, you can say Punch Out!! Wii had reasonable graphics and good gameplay, but whenever I think of turning it on, I am repulsed by the idea of having to listen to the god-aweful voice acting and wacked out caricatures.
That's where the nay-sayers are blocking. They don't understand that it's the exception and not the rule. If they took a second to listen to me and ask genuine question and consider the answers, they would understand this basic concept, that it's the exception and not the rule. Hence why they call me graphics whore (Runa) or excuse maker (Rol).
But I don't care anymore, this thread will continue with or without them. I plan on asking you, my friends, more questions as to why you may feel like I do, and how we can better deal with it, how to anticipate it, and for what franchises and series, and where we see potential for something finally satisfying our needs, as gamers, as consumers.
Thanks for trying and managing to understand my PoV. It was tough, but not that tough once you're trying. Cheers mizzy.

it's so odd to be in a world like this, isn't it? I mean, on the internet it's considered wrong to reject answers becuase they are irrational; you're expected to respond to them in a respectful manner and treat them as real points when they have not earned it. I deal with this kind of faulty logic all the time.
"You're ignoring my points! why didn't you respond to this tidbit?"
"because it made no sense and was irrelevant."
"You won't listen to reason becuase you don't see things from my perspective!"
"No, I listen to reason, and I'd listen to you if you were being reasonable."
For the first time in my time on this forum...I totally agree with Rol. (and I coulda swore he was just a troll for the longest time!)

When I first came into this thread and implied that this is a troll thread I backed it up with a post of yours where you stated what you want from a new Super Mario Bros. game which included the wish for a bargain pricetag and that's unreasonable. Flagship games do not retail for bargain pricetags. It's really a strange thing to say. Then there's the following segment of our argument in the other thread (this post also includes the box with your wishes): http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=4523818 "Last time I checked, ROL, Super Mario Bros. came bundled with my NES, Super Mario Land came BUNDLED with my Game Boy, Super Mario World came BUNDLED with my SNES. And Super Mario Bros. 2? I got as a gift for my birthday (I got All-Stars for Christmas). The only Mario games our family ever bought new were Super Mario 3 (japanese imported), Super Mario 64 and NSMB on the DS, AT 40$. Super Mario 3D Land I bought new because I'm now much more active on forums and all and much more in the market, but that's an exception. Mario Land 2 and Super Mario Galaxy, both were bought second hand. I did not buy NSMB Wii, and I never will. It is a sales cockfest. That's not the direction I want for Mario. If it's to be 2D, I want something as good as Galaxy. (Thankfully, at least one point on which we probably agree.)" It's like you take pride in not buying Mario games new. Then two or three days later NSMB2 gets unveiled and you make this thread. I consider it a possibility that this is a revenge thread; or at the very least revenge played a part in its creation. |
@bold. No... not at all. I'm really glad you asked Rol, why do we always fight like this over misunderstandings...
What I meant, when I said that about Mario, I said that in reply to you, you had accused me of spitting on the Mario series because I didn't want to pay more than 30$ for a 2D revival. I had to explain my reasoning with that paragraph, and plus instead of asking me really why I considered 30$ a reasonable price, you just assumed I despised the series... Stop assuming!
The reason I consider 30$ a reasonable price, for me, for a mario game is:
1) I rarely buy games new.
2) I don't have much disposable income.
3) The game series is 25 years old, the technology has dramatically improved since then. To inject artistic detail in 2D games costs much less today than it did back then.
4) I refused to buy NSMBWii at 60$ because I considered it a rip-off. I did mind you buy NSMB new for the DS at 40$. 40$ being a compromise I'd be willing to accept, 30$ was what I considered the right pricepoint given what it takes to make the game, and sure it was wishful thinking, of course. But I was looking at it from the consumer's point of view.
@italics. It's not because your name is in the OP that this is a revenge thread. Geez man, you're like one of my best buds on here...
The one thread I did challenge you in was the Blue Ocean/Red Ocean one, and I was clear in the OP to state it was an invitation strictly to you to debate.
But what would I want revenge from, I don't even get it. Yes, you hurt my feelings often, but what did you do lately for me to do that? Throwing me under the bus during a game? Come on... Yes it was tough, but I realize it's only a game. (By the way please don't elaborate unless you want to get me in trouble)
And plus, I even sent you a PM about this 4 days ago privately just to you, so you know this is actually how I feel. How did you get that wrong?
