Forums - Nintendo - New Super Mario Bros. 2 is not what I want

Nintendo needs to improve the graphics and art before release?

Yes, ALOT! 88 27.24%

Yes, kinda 49 15.17%

it's fine as it is 90 27.86%

Graphics, who cares? 76 23.53%

Sales are what matter, bring NSMB! 20 6.19%

^And that's just for a 10$ episode. Maybe they figured the episodal model works and decided to actually put in the effort. Granted there are christmas lights, but that's part of sonic heritage, (the flashy lights and stuff) and it isn't over the top.

Are you talking to me, HappyD?

sad.

^At first I ignored your post, but then I figured you may have had something intelligent to say. Then I read a few lines lower and saw "sad". I was at line 3 of paragraph 1 when I finally decided, you're officially on my ignore list.

@pie. Yup! I was just completing what you were saying

I don't get it though. What were you aiming for?

Pic 1:

Comment: Retro, warp pipes comming off the side reminiscent of super mario bros 3. ? blocs. GIANT WORLD??? All in all more retro. GOOD

Pic 2:

A work of art. I've said enough. For those who need more expliciteness... that means GOOD.

Pic 3:

You get to play with yoshi (I new that already, spoiler already ruined). Explosions, details on the boss model, difficulty level increased from SMG (bullet bills). GOOD.

Pic 3:

Bright and Matte at the same time, Yoshi can get star power or booster power. Flying goombas in the background. Matte/foggy background, a little darker themed. GOOD.

Want me to do more?

No, it's already enough to drive the point home.

Super Mario Galaxy 2 uses a lot of the assets of the previous game and has no notable improvements in terms of texture quality and special effects. If you were to mix screenshots of Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2, a lot of people wouldn't be able to tell which pictures are from which game. This includes people who have played both games. Essentially, Nintendo is selling you the same game twice.

The enthusiasm in your post is plain obvious. What it tells me is that you wanted to be excited about SMG2. LIkewise, your reaction to the NSMB2 screenshots tells me that you did not want to be excited about the game. That is the underlying difference between SMG2 and NSMB2.

You never wanted NSMB2 in the first place. I've said it before that this is a fake topic. You didn't genuinely want a new Super Mario Bros. game, but you started this thread pretending that you did.

I have to admit that I am envious that a troll topic of yours can fly past the 300 posts mark within a day while mine more often than not don't even reach 100 posts.

EDIT: This should also answer how and why people can be excited about NSMB2 at this point, based on the same four screenshots that you dislike.

That was more or less my reaction as well, so I'll join in on the clapping.

That's all fine and good, but it doesn't explain why you perceive the NSMB2 graphics as cheesy and kiddy, if the Christmas trees are all there really is; and even that's pushing it. If we were to use that as criteria for what constitutes cheesiness, then there's just too many games that would fall into this category, including a lot of classic games. Like Punch-Out!! with its clearly undersized referee.

Everything is just so inconsistent in your argument, that's why I think that you simply don't want to like NSMB2. The lack of effort is hard to judge based on these four screenshots. What's more important is not how the game looks, but what kind of worlds and new power-ups we can expect. Until a trailer is released we won't be able to judge this.

I'm about to give up RolStoppable, you aren't trying to understand my PoV, you are simply trying to string me up. This isn't a game, I'm expressing where I'm coming from and you're just accusing. Try to see where I'm coming from instead of assuming where I'm coming from.

I mentioned the christmas lights as 1 example. It could be quirky, but given a few other examples it doesn't hold water. As I already mentioned, but you insist to ignore:

1) The spiders lack detail HARDCORE.

2) The environments in the fall level are lacking detail.

3) The golden pic may just be a lemon, but it reaks with cheesiness.

In punch out, the characters and referee are quirky, they are not cheesy. Odd thing, when they tried to replicate the quirkyness on the Wii, they failed hard, I didn't like it, I was turned off. (ie it was cheesy)

Yet I already explained quirkiness vs cheesiness, you are simply following an agenda and ignoring my points while assuming I'm just taking them out of my ass to push my agenda, but that is horseshit and you don't know it.

Bah, I give up. I'm too old for this damn market... I think I've gone full-circle.

Boys, enjoy the circlejerk, I'm pretty much done.

With this thread? Don't let Rol string you up. His arguement is good and your's has it points too.
