Forums - Sony - Global PS3 Price Cut: 4 retailers slash prices! US & UK!

Probably just new SKUs so some retailers are trying to clear current stock. I'm guessing it's something farily minor like larger HDDs. It wouldn't make much sense to have a major change at this point in the year.

Both Sony and Microsoft will probably wait until just before WiiU is released to drop prices.

Typical undercutting of each other, at one point you could get a slim from Amazon, along with like 3 games and HDMI cable for around £160, the price keeps jumping all over the place, with Sainsbury's and Morrisons being the main bastards.

Company posts loss 4 years in a row, cuts the price of one of its few profitable products. Yeah, great business.

Disconnect and self destruct, one bullet a time.

The best reason for not buying a Vita so far...

E3 coming up, could be selling off old sku for a new one. Sales could be really low just before E3 for the PS3 if this is the case.

sounds like the slim model is coming! quick, some make a poll about which feature they'll cut next. wifi? blu ray? the casing?

the real slim is coming

I hope it's not a new slim because that would make my current PS3 Slim (which I love so much) feel obsolete.

Super Slim on the way.

Atto Suggests...:

Book - Malazan Book of the Fallen series

Game - Metro Last Light

TV - Deadwood

Music - Forest Swords

It's getting cheap enough that many people who wouldn't normally want to buy a PS3 consider it.

I would assume these are just typical sales as we enter into the slower months of the year. The PS3's price dropped fairly recently, after all.

I could see it being officially dropped to $199 before the year is out, though.
