Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft reports UK growth for Xbox Live

I think it would be fantastic if MS revealed some numbers for their game sales. Something like: We sold 100,000,000 games on Xbox Live (including Arcade, Indi-games and GoD)

The last time they actually revealed some numbers was at E3 2008, where they said Xbox Live members spent 1 billion USD for the past 30 months (NOT the fees!). Back then Xbox Live had 12 million members and VoD wasn't even available in Europe. Same for Avatars etc.

There used to be a report that said the money spent on Xbox Live is head to head with the money spent for the fee. With 40 million XBL users and about 55 - 60 % of them paying the fees, XBL generates 1.1 billion USD. According to the E3 2008, 1/3 of the paid downloads are for VoD. That leaves 2/3 for games and game add-ons. (No avatar stuff back then). If this is still accurate, we have 730 million USD spent on gaming and gaming add-ons. Let's say there is an even split between add-ons and games (I think games might be more popular though) It is safe to say that the money spent on actual games on Xbox Live exceeds 300 million USD per year. The average game costing 15 USD, that leads us to 20 million games bought per year.

I know, quite a few assumptions and "Ifs" in it, but I think it is the only way to get an idea about the seize of their online business.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

I dont understand Microsoft or Sony when they charge MORE for a digital copy of a full game than an actual disc version would cost you. I mean 50 Pounds Sterling? 70 Euro in PSN?

Some actual numbers would be nice.

I love Live but they need to do some type of give away like what PSN+ do monthly. Free old Live Arcade game a month will go a long way to make loyal fans happy. Reason I cancel my PSN+, I couldn't justify paying for both Gold and PSN+.

Xbox Live is the best service ever and nothing comes even close... maybe in 20 years something will come close.

This next 4 tittle alone will make my wallet empty.

"Sales of Microsoft’s Games on Demand titles, which become available to download online around six months after their retail debut, are also up year-on-year."

Am I the only one that read that wrong? I thought they were releasing sales 6 months after release :D
A guy can dream...

I thought most GoD titles were between £15-£30, with some about £40. I've never seen one at £49.99.

Hope that helps a bit: http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=142482
