Actually outlawauron that is a policy that has been abolished due to the fact that it IS wrong. A new game should NEVER in any case be played and it is against policy to do so now.

I'm glad to say that is done with and sorry for anything in the past that has happened like that to hurt your experience. It was something I personally saw as rediculous as well.

I assure you at this point any game labeled as new in the store is indeed never played. If anyone does play it is completly against policy and a serious problem.

Gamestop is the single worst game retailer I've ever had to deal with, nearly all are populated by a bunch of brain dead fanboys who go out of their way to make simple purchases as fucking hard as humanly possible

I literally had one clerk say to me "I'm not gonna let you leave until you pre-order something"

-- Won't take back new game that has been opened -- Hmmm. Name me one store that does. (EB Games once had a 10-day return policy for any reason on new and used. A lot of people would free-rent systems that way, Not a good policy).

-- Try to upsell you. Welcome to how retail operates. I have to fend off these things anytime I call for almost any service. (Like when they want to sell you credit card insurance).

-- Less than the smartest employees. Minimum wage jobs sometimes yield minimum wage people. I once got more help buying a VCR at a Wal-Mart than at a specialty electronics retailer. Guess which one went out of business.


I am pretty lucky that the I have known the managers at both of my local Gamestops for more than a decade. And the staffs know me well enough not to try to sell me stuff. But when I go other places, I just say no to those requests. It is EASY.

Gamestop is not perfect. But it does have its place. And if you are wondering about the used trade-in values -- it often can get stuck writing off a lot of big games that get traded in and never bought. That's part of the reason for the high margin -- not all the stock sells (or sometimes it sells for a loss).

I really don't have a problem with them (especially now since they gave the U.S. Xenoblade.) Whenever amazon has used games higher than usual they are a good alternative most of the time. Unless you have game stores that broke retail dates ( I don't have one anymore :*( ) you can find the game, popular or niche, there in stock. The only time I had a slightly bad experience with them was with this.

HOW THE HELL COULD YOU??!!??!! I'm at college so I asked my grandmother the day after she got a cyst surgically removed from her hand to get it for me. Either I'm heartless or you're very forgetful. :P
