Forums - Gaming - So much hate for GameStop - is it justified?

Well they take games for 5 bucks and sell for 50, so yes I see an issue.

Of course it isn't

We litteraly make the console makers and developers MILLIONS of dollars they wouldn't get otherwise.

End of story. But then again I don't expect gamers on the internet who don't understand anything about the business side of the industry to understand that.

Coming from an unbiased party.

Wargram its a proven fact over 60% of game trade in credit is used toward the purchase of NEW HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE.

Thread Over.

Were talking about millions in revenue that the developers are making from gamers who would normally not have the money to even BUY a new game.

We are also percentage wise the leader in pre-orders on the entire planet earth. We are paid to litteraly encourage people to go buy brand new $60 games from developers.

There's no question about it and despite and PR talk the developers LOVE us.

I don't really care what Gamestop does or doesn't do for developers. The topic at hand is if hate for this shit company is justified, and it is because it screws over its customers on a daily basis.

Amazon > Walmart > Shitty Pawnshop (Hey at least they label used games as USED) >>>>>>>>>> Gamestop

Any day of the week.

There is no need for hate. The consumer will make the natural decision.

The origin of the hate is whats not needed, and it didnt come from the consumers cause the consumers judge with their money. It came from the developers/publishers that saw a good thing going between consumers and retailers they didnt have a hand on and decided they would just try to stomp on everyone else and cry over it like little babies.

Used games are a good practice and are healthy for the market (looks at the car markets for example, people sell the old used car to buy a brand new one). Whats not healthy is greedy companies that came into the habit of trying to extort every little bit of money they can from consumers, even the one they arent entitled to.

Ok Wargram, you keep being a sad angry gamer.

Meanwhile we'll keep posting record profits and getting by far the best pre-order bonuses and exclusives.

No, people give them games for 5 bucks, and they will sell it for $25 - $35, no one forces anyone to trade in at a lower value, infact ebay or craigslist is a better choice on two ends

1) You get more money, but sell it less than Gamestop

2) Someone buys the game cheaper than at Gamestop

There are two problems though

1) Ebay: might not get paid, might just get ripped off

2) Craigslist: might get murdered by psycho

All options require more effort than dropping it off with Gamestop, but thats the price you pay.

I will give one good thing to gamestops used games policy, I buy a used game, I get 7 days to return the game and exchange it for another, thats a pretty good deal, especially if you buy something and find out you hate it.

April 1st was 16 days ago.

If you really believe a crappy costume or a gun can beat a $10-20 in store-credit + in-game content you're insane.

I do same thing, suppose I should have said that it's also the blind consumer's fault for trading their games in for pocket change.
