Yea emulators probably the only way, like someone has said the internal battery in your copies are probably gone. I got my old red to play and it will save but when you turn it back on its gone.

Go for it, it MAY be legal but you would never be singled out as if it went to court you would probably win; format-shifting has usually been found legal. In any case you are morally right.
Ignore the DMCA it doesn't usually hold when tested in court.

Right. That's why Sony was so eager to settle with GeoHotz when so many of the PS3 fans on here and elsewhere were calling for his head. Not only would Sony have been humiliated, but they would have set a (for them and others in the games industry, but good for consumers) damning legal precedent in losing.

By the way, you should get heartgold or soul silver, There's 16 gyms (8 in johto, 8 in kanto) and it's one of the most refined pokemon games ever, plus you get to explore kanto and johto!! that's 2 regions in 1 game!!!

Ah is that happening to all of them now? I found that had happened on my copy of Gold but Silver (which was about a year younger), Red, Blue and Yellow were still going. Haven't turned them on in a few years but I'm sure Silver will have died by now. Hoping it doesnt affect my game from Gen III onwards.
Although when I first found Gold had died, looked some stuff up on the internet and found some ways to replace the internal battery. If you get your copies out of storage you could try that so they are playable again.

And it's not dead. They just move it into the "back room".

That's part of the problem. Just get all the major ISPs to voluntarily sign on and we all get screwed without having even the free market to turn to. Unless pirates decide they want to found an independent ISP
Such are the reasons why net neutrality should have been ironed into law a while ago.

Download an emulator and download the games illegally, that's what I do with old games.

It's not up solely to Nintendo, anyway. GameFreak is part of it and maybe they don't want them on digital stores.
Im prety sure you can download the rom legally so as long as you have the cartridge.
