Well, I've gone all the way back to genesis, because I'm getting bored with PS3 at the moment.

Well, the title does say "console". Is your PC a console now?! I never thought I'd see the day when PC enthusiasts would stoop so low.

What are you talking about? I said my preferred gaming system is PC, not console. What's low about that?

Yeah but it sounded like you wanted PC as a poll option. lol

Xbox 360.

Said it time and again. I didn't even intend to come into this generation. What I saw from the Xbox 360 looked like nothing but a sharper version of last gen. The only thing keeping me interested was wondering what the Wii would be able to do with motion controls. Had it not been for the Wii, I'd have quit cold turkey. Then, the PS3 had motion controls, too! I wanted a PS3. Then, when I went to buy a PS3, it was sold out. So was the Wii. I didn't want to go home empty handed so I bought a 360 (something similar happened when I got a Dreamcast because I couldn't find a PS2).

So, I went with a company I had no history with. I went with the Xbox 360. Time and time again, I was blown away by what it had to offer. I didn't get a Wii until months later and I didn't get that PS3 until MGS3 came out in 2008. When I did get them, it didn't matter. It was obvious to me that the 360 was where it was at. It satisfied all of my gaming needs.

Now, will I get a PS4, Wii U, or Next Box next gen? I don't know. Maybe I'll get none. Maybe I'll get them all. All I need is a little convincing.

i voted Wii, as it's the only one of the 2 i play these days since someone stole my games (i could kill them, and soon i will). i'll side with D.

TLG, TLOU, H4, AC:3, Starhawk, and Bioshock infinite better not disappoint.

edit those numbers can't be trusted, and where's the Sega option?

You must live in an isolated place since you didn't get a 2004 game until 2008!

Yeah, I saw that when Marcus quoted me.  I was hoping nobody would notice.  I'll just lie and say I meant the re-release before MGS4 came out!  I bought it again in 2012, too (3DS version) and I'll likely get it for the Vita.  I LOVE mme some MGS!

Lol, maybe you're right. I was kind of hoping this would include all gaming systems but of course the title says otherwise.

Oh, if you didn't catch what I meant by "low", I was sarcastically remarking about PC elitists and their general tendency to refer to themselves as the glorious master race and that consoles are peasantry. So by wanting the PC included for a poll consisting of mainly consoles, this is what I meant by "stooping low" haha. Of course, I'm not accusing you of any of this =P

I guess sarcasm doesn't come off too well on text....

Wow surprised how hard Xbox is being rocked. Wii is of course my favorite system but this generation Nintendo barely beat Microsoft. Nintendo's software is sooooo good so amazing and the Wiimote is good, but online is a disaster and that is inexcusable with the better graphics I found it next to impossible to buy third party content on Wii. With GameCube I didn't need a second console, online game play was a major bonus but not necessary and most third party content I wanted was available on GameCube. Their was only a half dozen games I wanted on the Xbox and nothing on the PS2.

But this generation Nintendo dropped the ball in a major way. It became impossible to exclusively support them and the console gets only 55% of my total gaming time with 43% of my gaming time on 360 and 2% on my PS3. Where as last generation it was 85% on my GameCube, 10% on my friends Xbox and 5% on my DreamCast.

So as you can see Nintendo is still my preferred console manufacturer but not by the large lead it has had my whole life. For the first time my Nintendo system barely got more play then the competitors systems!

Oh, right. Thanks for clearing it up! Maybe someone should do a "What is your preferred gaming device" thread which includes everything from consoles, handhelds to PC and mobile.

I feel like most people would have more than one preferred gaming device based on what their needs are at any given time. (i.e. mobile for on the go, consoles for gaming on a couch in front of a TV, etc.) But go for it if you want, might have some interesting results. If anything, consoles will likely have a majority of the votes as this site attracts console gamers.
