Forums - Sales - PS3 was the top selling video game system of 2011 (sold more than 3DS)

yup, because that's what trounce means >_>

Not when you're trying to overstate things. I know it wasn't going to sell 5 Million more than PS3, I was being sarcastic.

It was like reading a news headline from IGN or something

So The PS3 price cut helped more than expected (As usual).

Its just because PS3 is selling since 1 January 2011 and 3DS in end of February/(end of March - worldwide) Ps3 has a 3 month headstart xD so i don't think that it will be the same in 2012

Yeah I dont see how Im making things up but ok. You really want to look at the numbers sony is in last place.  Vita is doing horrible, they are losing bullions of dollars so contrats sony for having a small success out of a failure of a year.  Likes I said look at the bigger picture instead of making a console war.

This thread is not about Vita, or Sony's financial troubles. Why are you discussing that in here?

He needs something to ease the pain of reading through the OP and seeing Sony succeed

You know I'm trying not to reply to people but saying Sony is succeeding is false as I've stated before.  However for your information, I do want to see sony succeed because I like sony.  This whole debate is on me replying to bias users on this website. If your not then dont pay attention to me, and if you are well I'm directly talking to you.

But 3DS numbers include launch numbers, which tend to be like a minor holiday, and a very large price cut.

True. The 3DS also had a large lack of games for a long toime resulting in low sales, though.

Tell me a reason it not deserving the spot. I was waiting for the final numbers after the post adjustments. I had in fact posted a thread earlier expressing my doubts on the sales numbers. And now as per the monthly sales analysis and tracking, the gap should be definitely less than 2 million. Congrats to Sony.

Now the only thing PS3 needs is to stay competitive by bringing down the price.

Quite true. Still, PS3 is selling more in America, 3DS more in Japan and PS3 probably more in Europe too. Will Japan be enough to keep PS3 at bay during the holidays?

The 3DS is selling more than enough in America, Europe are the only lackers. PS3 will fall behind the 3DS because of Japan and America, not just Japan. Also, the Wii U is coming out which could cause a small change in sales for Kinect/Move (AKA PS3 and X360.) We have to watch out for that too.

That's like saying Vita will cause less 3DS sales  ಠ_ಠ

No. It's the market. Many people have the more than one home console but most people only buy one handheld as that is all they need. The reason I mentioned the Kinect and Move is because that's what the Wii U will affect.
