Blood_Tears said: Congrats to Sony for pluging away at the gap and getting it to where it is now. And wow, I know this site has more PS3 supporters then 360 supporters, but the latter sure try to do a job of dismantling any negative talk towards MS. This is a sales website for people wanting to discuss "sales". Love it or leave it! No PS3 supporter came in to derail the threads that the 4-5 360 fans made last christmas about catching up to PS3 in yearly sales. So why is it so hard for this people to stop whining and crying over this thread and posting links from predictions or opinions 5 years or more ago. Or better yet, the great response of "ohh ahh it doesn't matter, it doesn't mater the gen is over" Who cares if the gen is almost over, we are still tacking sales every week so therefore we can talk about it whenever we want. Seriously these forums are so sad these last few years. |
Damage controlling, its really entertaining to see some people trying to degrade PS3s success lol. :) Only 4 months ago sales mattered to them again when 360 had a good holiday, now it doesnt matter, believe me when 360 (if its still able with WiiU launch) widens the gap a little back again next holiday they will make those threads again.

The ironic thing about that, when you really want to get down to it, it that some of these same exact people can be found in the NPD thread attacking The Source and stating how he "Has some kind of aversion to the 360" and goes on about things such as "How many consoles have done this?" or "How many consoles have done that at this point in their life?", etc...
Now, in this thread, you have this same person going on about "This doesn't matter because so and so said this 5-6 years ago" or "Who cares, the gen is almost over" or "Well, it doesn't matter to me so who cares? *puffs out chest*".
I ask this person to give the same treatment they were asking for just a day or two ago. How many consoles have launched at $500-$600, lost almost all support and then came back to possibly finish with over 70-80M in sales? How many consoles have had books written of their failure only to become the top seller weekly within that same generation?". How many stories can you find of where one falls so far only to pick themselves back up and place themselves where the PS3 is today?
Sometimes the stories of ones who fall and rise back up are more impressive than stories of those who rise to the top and stay there. Look at Nintendo for example, they fell hard and it took them a couple of generations, but they came roaring back early this generation and went on to sell what will be over 100M consoles.
Sony can do almost the same within the same gen they fell.
So instead of arguing about whether it matter to you or not, which if it doesn't it makes one wonder what you're doing in here anyways, try to give some credit where credit is due, not to mention take the time to realize that PS3 and 360 successors are almost 1 1/2 years away at least, so these sales are very much still relevant.
As a parting gift to those who think sales for these consoles do not matter when the next gen rolls around... how much did PS2 sell in the first year of the 360 and the second year? How did PS2 sell in PS3's first year? Things don't just end because someone else released a console.
This site sure is strange sometimes and sometimes the users here just boggle the mind.
