Bam! Insta-update.

Week 45 since launch. Stagnate numbers this week, did not meet the 9% predicted increase. Next week is expected 24% increase. We will see.

The AC3 bundle will most likely give it a boost. Vita could get some pretty significant adjustments down though. People were pixel counting in another thread. The pixels didn't look pretty.

Whether Sony likes it or not, they are directly competing.

Walk into Gamestop, Ebgames, Best Buy, etc......see the handheld games section. Youll see Vita on display next to 3DS. Nintendi/Sony doesnt choose who they are in competition with, the sellers do. They are both dedicated game handhelds, regardless of their approaches.Kids and parents and adults will look at that shelf, see Vita and 3DS side by side, and they will make a choice.

Yes, that's why it is so hard for Vita. It's dealing with the price disparancy. It doesn't help that 3DS has full backwards compatibility with DS. Honestly the Vita isn't that expensive, but people aren't comparing it with the tablet devices that would make it cheap/competitive. Right now it is viewed as the expensive option out of two options. Plenty of consumers are uninformed about either system, and the retailers can be just as uninformed. Maybe the Vita will find a spot on different shelves after PSM become large allowing the feature to have the features to compete directly with tablet functionality. Problem not, it will be seen as a game console above all else. The device needs more consumer awareness, which it probably won't get until it becomes a little cheaper, has PSM in full force, and a couple smash hits.

Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(

What thread, and of course the pixels aren't spectacular. The screen only has so much resolution, is it downscalled or something, or are they trying to see something that is not there to make it look bad?

This thread.

Although it only confirms what we already knew anyway due to the shipment numbers of 2.2m by the end of June. The Vita is overtracked on VGC by 250-400k units.

Ok, maybe I'm showing my naivity but what are we talking about with pixels?

Haha. I feel like the setup in games stores in the UK (at least where I live) is so different  than the US after reading Sales' comment.

For example, in the two different Tesco's by where I live: PS Vita games are next to PS3 games, with console bundles next to them. 3DS and DS games are all mixed together in one big clusterfuck, not separated, next to Wii games, at the other end of the games section.

In my local Game: PS Vita games were in their own section on the far wall between the two doors for a very long time. 3DS and DS games were mixed together in a big clusterfuck (again) next to the PSP games, which were next to the PS2 games.

Now they redesigned it so there's adjoined shelves which go PS2 games -> PSP games -> PSV games, and the PS3 games are round the back of the shelf. Then they moved 3DS & DS games (now separated) to the other side of the store with the Wii games.

Even in HMV there's a Sony section of the store with PSV & PS3 games together, and then 3DS & Wii games on the other side.

Point is, I don't think I've ever seen 3DS and Vita games next to each other. Seems odd now I think about it. Maybe brand loyalty plays a big factor over here because they make more of a point of having a Nintendo shelf; a Sony shelf and a Microsoft shelf.

But anyway, I digress. Poor Vita. Next few weeks will be interesting though.

The provided graphs don't give exact weekly sales breakdowns, so some people here and on Neogaf decided to count the pixels on the sales curves to then convert them into raw numbers; and these numbers add up to a lower amount than VGC shows for the PSV.

Ah I see, that's cool. I see they made the mistake of using current October numbers against those September numbers in that thread. Aside from that the percentages they are getting from that available data is probably rounded. Regardless it is pointing to some undertracking.

When do you predict that it will hit 5.5 million?

Well just using my graph it wouldn't be till July 2013, but that's because numbers are so low right now. If that changes coming out of the holiday it could be much different.

Vita sales increased by over 12%. Half of the predicted 24%, resulting in lower final results. While Japan sales have gone down sales in Europe and North America have gone up most likely due to the release of games such as Street Fighter x Tekken and Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward. Next week expect higher sales in both regions thanks to Assassins Creed 3: Liberation, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, and Ragnarok Odyssey.

That '30m 3DS or 5m Vita by Year End' competition thread is actually starting to look like it could actually BE a competition now. Kind of funny, really.
