Forums - Gaming - HUGE breakthrough in my GAMING life.

Ive have been dying to share this story.

When the thread: "Games you remember playing, but can't remember the name of!" appeared. I realised something REALLY BIG.

http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=142189&page=1

Okay...12 years ago, when I was just a kid. I played on the "Family Computer" which was the first console I ever played on. My mother called it The Family Computer and so did my Father. I tried to ask them where they got it but I never knew what kind of console it was or what company made that wonderful machine. As an 18 year old, I have had SO much wonderful memories of it. Especially with the games that came with it.

Ok, I saw a video of Baloon fight in the previous thread. It almost made me cry. I was so happy to see that game again. I had SO much fun with it playing that same game on the "Family Computer". However,I noticed something in the title... it said NES. IT SAID NES??? WHAT THE HECK?? NES???

With further research (Wikipedia like a boss) . It turns out that "The Family Computer" is the non-american version of NES. I also realised that all the child hood games that I have played on was from a NINTENDO CONSOLE.

Because of this new find, I have found a new and profound respect in Nintendo. As a 360 fanboy (Yes, I am). I used to ridicule Nintendo and its Wii console. I thought Nintendo was stupid. I thought Nintendo is the the veteran that has seen better days. However because Nintendo has given me with such a wonderful childhood experience. I now treat Nintendo as my most respected gaming company. They have given me memories. Wonderful beautiful memories.

Thank you Nintendo. I will always be at your side.

Please share your own experiences with the NES

SUMMARY: I didnt know NES was a NES. That changed my life...

You realized this a few days ago? Better late than never!

Anyway, I too started gaming with my NES and have many fond memories of it. Mostly played Duck Hunt, Ice Climber, The Legend of Zelda, Super Mario Bros, Rush'n Attack, Top Gun, Kung Fu, Gum Shoes and a few more.

You should of been a big fan of Angry video game nerd a long time ago he made a video of some shitty game that basically copied Balloon fight and me mentioned and showed the game.

Nice story bro. Now that WiiU is about to come out, you should think about getting a Wii for cheap, and replay your childwood NES games on Virtual Console, and (why not?) try some of the awesome SNES, N64 and Wii games on it.
I never had a NES but I've played a lot of Super Mario Bros 3 on it.

Glad to have you aboard. We're going to need you in the coming battle with The Reapers. **

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!  Don't get an Nes, now!  It will ruin all of your childhood memories.  It's like going back and watching a TV show from your childhood.  It aged terribly and Barney doesn't look like a real dinosaur anymore.  Just remember what it was and look forward to the future.

The NES is called Family Computer or Famicom in Japan. It also looks totally different than the US/EU Versions its red and white and the Controller are glued to the console.

Edit: Just realized you answered the question in the OP. I dont blame you the Famicom looks like a completly different console and the name is different too.
