Forums - Sony - Why Sony’s £4 billion loss isn’t the disaster it seems

The fact that this coincides with Sony committing to the termination of 10 000 employees over the next year leads me to the conclusion that this 6.4 billion dollar loss is, in fact, very bad.

LOL at Sony haters.

Worst case scenerio, Sony stops making TVs or is reduced to competing with small-fries of the TV biz. Sony stops making cameras or is reduced to make quick bucks with cheap affordable avereage nothing special about them TVs.

Even worse case scenario, Sony stops making cameras or is reduced to make quick bucks with cheap affordable avereage nothing special about them cameras.

Best case scenario, Sony drops everything to focus on the 1 thing they're still competitive in: Gaming Division.

No way sony is stopping TV production... dont you read what is going on.  Kaz has said TV's are THE number one priority.

the 1 thing they are still competitve in is gaming?  er.... Movies?  Music?  Financial services (the actual number 1)

You havent got a clue.

This is VGKing you're talking too

I'm surprised we still have a few 'Everything will be alright' Sony fans here tbh. Nothing they've said or done in the last few years suggests things are going to turn around.

There is little good news in that article.

While it does point out that a lot of "loss" is "on paper," the article also notes that Sony went from an operating profit in 2010 (200B yen) to an operating loss in 2011 (95B yen). Kaz hopes to get to an operating profit in 2012 (of 180B yen).

I just cannot understand how Sony share prices went UP this morning.

What a stupid thing to say.

All I've seen is them put Kasz in charge, and his 'plans' don't sound promising (what you can gather from them anyway).
