The NPD releases a top 50? I thought they just listed the Top Ten all SKU Chart, and occasionally the individual SKU chart.

It was a top 50 released on GAF which I saw. It had the top 10 the same as NPD, dunno if it was official though.

what I meant by "not tracked" is this: (quoted from neogaf)

Xenoblade is included in the numbers, but the title is suppressed in the data. All retailer exclusives get lumped into a single surpressed number.

if you want a clearer explanation:

Short version: Retailer-specific information is verboten. It was excluded from the public release. It is almost certainly included in data that subscribers get.

Longer version: One thing that the NPD Group tries to avoid is giving out any retailer-specific information. I believe that this may be part of their agreement with the retailers with which they have data-sharing deals. This protects retailers from knowing too much about each other, if I understand correctly.

I've been told that this is why Wal-mart was always a sore spot. They are 25% of the market, so they felt that the NPD Group's reports were giving away information about their business. (Not sure how that's going to be different now. They still aren't integrating any data from their agreement with Wal-mart yet.)

Since Xenoblade was a retailer exclusive, its sales would give away information about a specific retailer, so it can't be included in the public report. It is almost certainly in the subscriber data.

OK, that makes the Xenoblade situation better. Hope it sold well.

I'd imagine it'd have sold roughly as well as VGC suggests...but the fact is, unless Nintendo say, we'll never know.

In addition, Xenoblade sales this week are outside the top 30 in America, so sub-10k in the US this week. I reckon we'll be looking at 11-12k WW, but, sadly, it looks as though sales are slowing down...

I expect it to completely disappear next week or the week after that, only to appear once again close to the holiday season and launch of Wii U. If Wii U has a slow first year in terms of releases it might even continue selling for a bit.

Until you've played it, every game is a system seller!

I'm now over 70 hours and have just opened the path to Prison Island.

This game has become Animal Crossing with battles for me. I spend hours running around talking to people, collecting things and building up my town. I'm in no hurry for it to end.

Things that amuse me:
Reyn's voice can be heard in battles even though you aren't using him.
My teammates appearing above me out of thin air while I'm climbing and then plummeting only to materialize beside me seconds later.

Indeed. I imagine it'll be selling at around 6-8k for a few weeks WW, stabillising at around 5k. But yeah, back up to around 20k in the holiday period, ending at around 720k this year.

This. But it's not as bad as going down a huge hole, easily dying, and your teammates just respawning like nothing happened

Gotcha. Thank you!

About 6 hours into the game now. Grad school has been taking up a lot of my time otherwise I'd probably be a lot farther. Currently roaming the Gaur Plains and finishing all the monster quests, and I nearly shit myself when I saw a giant level 81 troll marching towards me when I was already engaged in a battle.

I'm enjoying this game more and more, the battle system is a lot of fun and certainly unique. I like how it actually takes a certain degree of skill and strategy instead of just mashing buttons randomly or partaking in repetitive turn based battles. I appreciate the level of customization too, what with the crystals, arts, skill trees, etc. Also, I'm generally not a huge fan of cutscenes but they actually manage to make the story interesting for the most part. Gotta say this is fast becoming one of my favorite RPGs of the generation.

metallicube, I can feel your pain. The combo of work, grad school, and having to decide whether or not to take the PhD qualifying exam this semester (nope) has caused me to be away from Heropon and friends for the past week. I need some serious Heroponning tonight.
