I really need to get back and finish the game. I've spent more than 175 hours now. I'm in the Mechonis City right now but I cannot beat the boss battle at level 71. 5 times so far and don't even get half of his health off before I'm wiped.

My son has taken over the game room so I've been 3DSing it for the last couple of weeks. Managed to complete Devil Survivor 2 because of it so that's a good thing.

This is Gadolt I'd imagine? He's pretty tricky to take down, but I can post tactics if you'd like. It might help!

And Melly is the best female character. Never really used Sharla, because Riki/Shulk could heal fine for the most part.

Yep that be he. I've tried switching up characters but nothing has worked so far. I haven't really used Riki a lot. Sharla has more heal/cure abilities but she doesn't always use them when I need it. I went in there with her thinking maybe it was a trick battle and she wouldn't get hurt. Silly me.

Yeah, that could be the plan. I did it with Shulk/Riki/Sharla. The key was to use Monado Armour every time he does that bizzare Ether circular attack. That's the killer.

But the circular attack doesn't count as an enemy Talent Art, so it can't be stopped by Monado Shield, right? Only with the laser he used, which he did, fortunately, like to spam.

As i said, i had little enough problem with him, aside from his summons and their ability to force lock-on.

this thread is bigger then the Mass Effect Thread :/

So, a couple of questions

1) Where's prime grinding grounds for the pre-Zanza run? Is the Bionis Core populated with good stuff that i can use for a while, until i can start grappling with all of the mid-80s enemies that are all over the place? Before the point of no return?

2) You can't control the weather, therefore you're screwed on getting the Light Rain Element to build the gathering hall for Colony 6. And why does Juju need Hode Planks specifically? There's all sorts of wood all over the damn place, then the nigh-nonexistant Fossil Monkey. Grrr

3) How do you get to La Luz Castle in Valak Mountain? Or is this something that specifically opens up after the point of the game that i'm at? I haven't gone to Valak Mountain yet, been puttering around looking for 70s-level enemies and looking for those damned nonexistent items

I'm finding difficulty with the questions on a lot of Seven Heart-to-Heart's. Often they hit you over the head with which one is insulting, but with some of these i keep thinking "here they want you to be honest," and... nope. They want you to ego-stoke, or dance around the question. One of them wants you to have Melia outright lie to Riki about how she feels about Shulk, because the truth is the wrong answer there.

I see where you're coming from, but I kinda like how the "correct" answer is occasionally dependent on you, the player, "knowing"what the listener would want to hear. Riki needs ego boosts, Seven wants affection, Dunban requires blunt honesty, etc. Another handful need you to pay enough attention to know that no, Shulk would never take the initiative when it comes to Fiora, or that Dunban's Stoicism personified.

I do find a handful tricky, though. I dunno Reyn, when we were children why did we fight?

No, I meant Monado Armour, not Monado Shield. Monado Shield blocks Talent Arts provided their level is the same or lower than that of Shield, whilst Armour blocks any type of damage, more if you level it up.

It's another one of the Monado Arts obtained through quests.

As others have said, but to actually get to La Luz Church, you need the High Entia Emblem. You get it from a quest chain in Satorl Marsh (near where the Gogols are).

To actually 'get' there, you have to go up a climbable wal around the back of the landmark. Just have a look around, and it'll make sense.

Haha, a few strokes of luck today. The Xenoblade wiki needs a lot of its facts cross-checked, because the stub for Hode Plank only mentions Scout Hodes, which are comparatively rare, but the Colony 6 page mentions Hyle Hodes, which are somewhat more common, to get that part. I also had the good fortune for it to actually rain in-game today, and so caught my light rain element. Between those two, i was able to make significant advancements in Colony 6, and have found several pockets of enemies that should be good for training.

You don't have to wait for it to rain. Just keep changing the time and you'll get rain pretty fast.

I tried that, after setting time ahead for like two in-game weeks and getting squat, i figured i would just wait.

I finally got an (online) buddy to buy Xenoblade. This makes me feel awesome.
He's really enjoying it (enough to call one of the best JRPGs ever made, despite only getting to Prison Island thus far), but has had problems with the camera. I told him to use the Classic Controller, but he claims that it's still annoying for him. *shrug*

You can't please everyone, I suppose.
