um, no they won't.
the only thing that will kill home consoles is MS and sony to stop caring about gamers, so far MS seemed to stop caring. next gen we will see.
my guess is MS gets their act together and sony continues its thing.

also, sup if next gen stats are real they will be 10 or so times more powerful then the ipad 3.

I actually kinda think Nintendo is moving in this direction already. Notice how they are talking down the Wii U console as "just the box" and trying to downplay it.

The Wii U will be the last "Nintendo console" with a "box" for hardware. If Wii U is successful, the successor to that will just be the tablet itself with the chipset inside. You'd just have a small HDMI dongle so your TV/monitor can recieve a signal from the Wii U 2 (lol) base controller.

One flaw in this theory: The iPad has no tangible buttons, making it a poor gaming machine. It's good for things like Angry Birds, but certainly hard-core gamers want some manner of controller with real buttons that you can feel.

We ALL wanted it, now we ALL are finally going to get SHENMUE III !!! Let us REJOICE IN THE STREETS!!!

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.
