Pfft, my backlog is absolutely terrifying and towers above me, ridiculing me and my buying habits. This is just a general list of games I haven't beaten (meaning in the general sense)...
PS3 - Around 65
PS2 - Around 100
PS1 - 64
GBA - 20
Gamecube - 25
Wii - 2
XBOX - 16 (I have only beaten one XBOX game from my collection)
That doesn't include PSN games, NES, SNES, PC, Dreamcast, N64, and Genesis titles...
I have something like 30 unfinished games. I'd rather not list them all lol. I think the problem is starting other games when you haven't finished whatever you're currently playing and the cycle keeps repeating. So now I'm just going to focus on one game at a time and not buy anymore games until I've finished everything UNLESS I really need to buy the game now =P

OP my back log is massive. Problem is, school is keeping me from playing my precious HD remakes, new Silent Hill, Yakuza DS, Sims 3 Pets, etc. I just want to game again :(
Oh and did I mention? badgenome is wrong, Nier is awful. Remember, he lacks the ability to judge quality. All games are good to him if they have trophies! |
Not sure if serious.

Nowadays games are better in superficial terms and that's mostly because there are so many other games to draw inspiration from, plus developers have learned how to properly program video games (for the most part at least). You play a game for an hour or two and think that it is well made. And on the surface it is. But if you dig deeper you begin to notice that it is just something you have played a hundred times before, but not anywhere close to as good as the top title in the genre. It's not always perceived consciously, so you just stop playing a game and can't even say why. But an actually good game still hooks you. You think about the game even if you don't play it. You think about what you will do in the game the next time you play it. You really want to play the game. I would argue that the number of these games hasn't increased all that much over the past two decades, if at all. The fillers have gotten better though. But maybe that's just because nowadays there are more games released than ever before. The number of bad games has multiplied. |
well said, agree with everything you said
Castlevania Judgment FC: 1161 - 3389 - 1512
3DS Friend Code: 3480-2746-6289
Wii Friend Code: 4268-9719-1932-3069
Hey guys, what I don't understand is: Why do you buy games you're not planning to play soon. I know in the holiday season there are a lot of good games coming out, but I'd rather wait till I actually have time to play them. The might be even cheaper at that point.
Nier and Dragon age origins are the 2 things that are best for you to play from the list.
I order lots of games together, like 4 or 5 at the same time... 3 will always end up still wrapped at the time I make my new order the next time (max a month later) .. i just can't find the time to sit down and play a game for hours anymore

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)

I never really gave it much thought but it.....it makes perfect sense. I think back to the games I really loved this gen and, as you said, they hooked me. I would skip out on sleep, slip in one quick game before work, and even debate whether I really needed to go to thhe bathroom or if I could hold it another 30 minutes. Now, I look at a collection that's better than most game rental places and often don't feel like playing anything. In a way, I think I'm just buying games just to say that I have them and not to play them.
Another thing I've noticed: I replay the good games! I sometimes even re-buy different versions of the good games on different systems and finish them again. I have Batman AA on PS3 and I beat it a few times. Then, I got it for 360 (free) and beat it again. I've re-pplayed (why does my phone insist on stuttering when I type!?) The Gears trilogy multiple times and can't wait to play it again. Meanwhile some games can't get me to finish the tutorial and these are games with great reviews!
I'm gonna try. I'm going to try and just buy what I'm honestly excited to play and leave the stuff I'm lukewarm about on the shelf. I think we have a breakthrough, doctor!
