Forums - Nintendo - I was right all along... (Wii 3rd party support)

Hah, brilliant thread, Superchunk.

Don't forget about the ports of Resident Evil: Darkside Chronicles, Dead Space: Extraction and Red Steel 2. All developed for Wii a.k.a. the third party machine, first!

Is that on PS3 too? You can add HOTD:Overkill, and from the sounds of it the original Epic Mickey.

Well, I have to give credit to our very own VGC user of the year. Rol, reminded me of my prediction in the news thread about Epic Mickey 2, then I threw this little thang together.

I never counted those as they were exclusives to Wii later moved to multi. This is the first time a game is created ground up as a multiplat with the specific intent of being on Wii as the core foundation and having others as ports.

this was, funny, but wasnt de blob 2 wii version the leading platform version??

and just out of curiosity what made you think that Wii would be the lead platform for mulitplat games??

The OP tries to give you the idea of the basis of my arguement and in 2008 with massive Wii domination and what looked like an obvious repeat of PS2 marketshare... it only made sense in the long run. However, 3rd parties did the opposite and killed the Wii with zero support. But, it doesn't matter as today I was vindicated with a epic level game.

Wasn't de blob 2 also originally exclusive to Wii then ported after the fact?

Another great game that is also confirmed as Wii lead platform is Night at the Museum 2. I'm sure there are other gems out there waiting to be discovered.

(late reply, had a hard time looking for a lead platform...)

That's one of of looking at it. Or developers just thought like Junction Point (or THQ/Ubisoft), who wanted the game to have the biggest exposure possible and lower risk. Games like Epic Mickey, de Blob, Just Dance, ... What is better than Nintendo's barren third party land. If it sticks, port it later to all platforms.

PS: Was the PS3 Lord of the Rings: Aragorn's Quest a port? And Sonic Unleashed was rumoured have Wii as the lead platform.

Yeah, you're right....
Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom (which I wanted until I found it was a 3 button fighter [I'm fine with BlazBlue])
Epic Mickey...
The only two games I wanted on Wii... I don't like MvC3, and Epic Mickey's coming to PS3... No point in me getting one, now.
But, I also read that the PS3 version will have a higher poly-count... But, I see no reason to not take your word for it. Not that I care, I'm still getting the game either way.

Heh, it tells you how much 3rd parties, especially Western ones, hate Nintendo.

And that´s why I´ll be very eager to see if 3rd parties try to abandon the Wii U, even if it´s having good/great sales, once the next Xbox and PS4 come out.

Right now, a lot of people seem happy the Wii U is also getting many 360/PS3 games (Arkham City, Darksiders 2, Metro Last Light, etc..), hey, maybe even Resident Evil 6 and GTA V!...but the real story, I think, will be when the next Xbox and PS4 are released.
