Forums - General - Are mandatory vaccinations good or bad for us?

Vaccination against illnesses that are likely to kill or disable you are good things ...

Healthy people with little access to high risk individuals getting vaccinations against minor strains of nuisance illnesses (like most flu-vaccinations) are mostly valueless. The reason for this is that these vaccinations only protect you against a single strain (or a small number of strains) of an illness, there can actually be multiple active strains of a virus in a region, and a large portion of the illnesses people experience are actually related to completely unrelated viruses. Essentially, you may be able to prevent yourself from being sick with a minor virus once every 4 to 10 years if you are vaccinated every year.

Now, here's a link to one of those "bullshit blogs" that not only explains how the HPV vaccine is dangerous and ineffective but guess what? They source their information to the FDA website itself throught the article and at the end of it.

They take the massive leap from 'most infections are short lived and not associated with cervical cancer' to 'all infections are not associated with cervical cancer'. That statement was never made by the FDA.

Yea gods those people are good at spinning the facts though. It took me a while to work out what was written by them and what was written by the FDA because they write both in quotes. Then they say that the FDA agrees with their quotes without proof of that.

You see the problem with bullshit blogs is that they spin the hell out of things. It's why he wanted a scientific article - which is not what you gave.

I read through that entire blog. Not one of their pieces of evidence was published. Instead they were all random pdf and word documents with no way to verify their authenticity.

Secondly they cherry pick the fuck out of the data. There are over 40 types of hpv virus. The vast majority are harmless. However about 10% of people get infected with a strain that does cause cervical cancer. Almost every single case of cervical cancer recorded to date is a direct result of hpv. All that crap about the hpv vaccine being dangerous is utter bullshit, its no more dangerous than any other vaccine.

I graduated with a bachelors in biology and biotech and I'm doing my masters in clinical pathology. I worked at a state of the art cancer clinic in California. I've given presentations and developed protocols for combating cancer in the future. I know exactly how and why a viral infection can cause cancer. Are you seriously trying to tell me that some bored guy who doesn't know the difference between a transposon and a oncogene discovered some huge conspiracy that no one else in the scientific or medical community with all their state of the art technology have a shred of evidence for?

Next thing your going to tell me is that we never landed on the moon. Stick to your blogs and I'll stick to reality.

I'm all for vaccines for things such a Hepatitis etc, but I don't think the once a year flu shot is a good idea. All it does is force viruses to mutate and become stronger. I haven't been sick for 18 months. No sore throat, or flu or anything like that. Try washing your hands regularly and not touching your face and you'll be surprised how effective that is against catching a cold.

I was walking down along the street and I heard this voice saying, "Good evening, Mr. Dowd." Well, I turned around and here was this big six-foot rabbit leaning up against a lamp-post. Well, I thought nothing of that because when you've lived in a town as long as I've lived in this one, you get used to the fact that everybody knows your name.

You're thinking of antibiotics. Vaccines don't work that way; yearly flu shots are due to the virus's already high mutation speed and the variety of different strains. 200 years of vaccine use never produced a vaccine-resistant strain of smallpox, nor have decades of vaccination done so for polio or measles.

For the record though, I think annual flu shots are unnecessary unless you're in a high risk category, and I agree with you that improving hygiene is a better solution.

I think vaccinations are real bad. Its all a pharma conspiracy. It makes you even sicker and destroys your health.

I dont believe in medicine. We should get rid of all those hospitals/doctors/nurses/meds.

Sicknesses are a modern phenomenon. Our life style made us sick. There is no condition you cant cure with lots of hard work. Selfmade bread and pure water. Illnesses are for weak people.

BTW: I got all my shots and I wasnt sick since more then a decade. I cant even remember the feeling.

Good for kids and old people/ those with weak immune systems? Yes. Good for anyone else? No. Better to let your immune system work itself and do its own thing. It's like George Carlin says, your immune system needs germs to practice on.

And I don't know about you, but I don't exactly trust getting shot with high concentrations of mercury into my bloodstream. Those who create the vaccines will always be one step behind anyway, since there will always be new viruses out there that are immune to it.

Uhm....

that's exactly what vaccines do - they let the immune system practice on (inactive/non-infective) germs

vaccines are only stupid when it's for inconvient sickness, like the cold or flu.
people lined up for bird flu vaccines, was pointless

eventually vaccine resistant diseases will be all over and we will be in trouble, in reality we should use anti biotics and such more sparingly

Incovenient sicknesses like the Spanish Flu which killed between 50 and 100 million people? Influenza is usually not particularly deadly, but a pandemic of a particularly lethal strain can kill a significant percentage of the worlds population.

Also I don't think vaccine resistance is a huge issue? Vaccine resistance certainly didn't appear  in polio or smallpox. I know anti-biotic resistance is a real problem however.

Viruses cant be vaccine resistant. Vaccine resistance does not exist it means there is no vaccine. Vaccines are there to teach your immunesystem how to fight a certain virus. So you are right its not just not a huge issue its no issue at all.

No way to autheticate? If you actually read the entire article instead of claiming you did, you would have found direct links to the FDA and other sites (you do realize that the continue arrow brings you to the next screen right?)

For someone who claims they have a "BACHELOR" in biology and biotech and are pursuing a Master's it's very surprising s that you resorted to ad hominems and choose to use the type of language you did, like in the previous post. If anything, you come off more as an ignorant hillbilly then someone with any credibility at all.

Oh wait, let me guess; in your next post you will post a link directly from the A.C.S or one of those organizations, or hell maybe you'll provide me something from the W.H.O! Well I would highly suggest researching into who funds or created the majority of these organizations where alot of this scientific data comes from and who there founders were (you should already know this, considering how smart you are).

Anyways, until you can speak and act like an adult and debate intelligently without swearing or name calling, do not bother replying as I have nothing further to say to you.

Good day to you sir, and kepp drinking that kool-aid.

Their links were cherry picked, taken out of context and generally spun so much that they no longer resembled the actual content of the original sources. The FDA sources were in fact in support of HPV vaccine because they concluded that it was generally safe and that it prevented cancer caused by HPV - the 'article' picked out individual sections which when taken out of context seemed to support the opposite of those conclusions.

The scientific establishment is not some giant conspiracy out to get you.
