Forums - Gaming - Microsoft and Sony showing no new Consoles at E3. Stupid or Smart Decision?

Is it stupid or smart of Microsoft/Sony to not showcase a new console?

Both Microsoft and Sony have announced a while ago that they will not show any new consoles. This lets Nintendo be all by themselves this E3, with no worries if a Microsoft Xbox 720 or a PS4 stealing their thunder. Rumors have it that Nintendo plans to wow people and are preparing for a huge showing at E3. Epic says it will be a huge eye opener. Do you think it's smart, or incredibly stupid decision for Microsoft/Sony to not show anything new hardware wise?

It's difficult to care, really. If they're not showing anything, it means that there stuff isn't ready to release any time soon so why bother teasing.

We don't know if thats actually what they are going to do.

Time for hype

It's a necessity for them, imo... especially Sony since they still need to recoup the most they can from PS3 and focus on Vita too.

i think people'll be able to answer a question like that better after E3 and after we have a better idea of what plans nintendo has for the wii u

If they are not planning on launching those consoles in the near term then all showing them off would be foolish. They'd be stifling their sales for no reason.

Smart decision, it's definitely too early as the 360 and ps3 both have another 1-2 years easy.

it all depends on what they DO show, not what isn't there. nintendo showed the wii-u last time but all you can see was it had a tablet controller and graphically it was on par with current gen. not very exciting, but then they showed a bunch of games coming for it, and 3DS stuff, which was good to see.

I'd say smart.

Yay!!!

They can't wait a lot to show and (most important) release their new consoles.

A release of more than a year after the Wii U can let Nintendo's new console have a decent third party support. I think it's safe to say that if Nintendo keeps releasing games like 2D Mario, Wii Fit, Wii Party, Mario Kart, etc... and somehow manages to get an average third part support the Wii U can win the new generation.
