Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Kid Icarus feels like a unique game

I played the game for the first 5 chapters  and I can say that it feels completely new, it does not play at all like other game.

The production value is amazing, the game is beautiful, fast, with a lot of things going on the screen. It is so action packed that you have a hard time following the dialog bewteen Pit and Palutena.

The air gameplay is amazing for the eyes, with the speed and the reverse of views, it is really beautiful. The gameplay is simplier as you can move Pit on the screen but the bigger trajectory is automatically directed. On the ground, you will need to get used to the controls, as you move the camera and the shoot target with the touchscreen. I took some times to get used to that, but after that, it is quite smooth and works perfectly for the shoot.

The camera is still a bit of a mess sometimes so the platform phase I encoutered was not really in the best condition, but it was short.

The non stop action, the dialogs, the fly, the ground, the boss, the weapons, the amazing production, all of that jump right on your eyes when you play the game for the first two hours.

I tried the multiplayer in light vs dark team, it was a bit confuse for me, but it was when I had not mastered the controls. Anyway, the game is totally different from what you will find elsewhere and is completely refreshing.

I picked up the game today and I love it. It really is a different kind of experience from other games. Yeah, the controls take a bit of getting used to, but once you get em down it's smooth sailing.

The multiplayer seems too chaotic at first. That's because there are so many particle effects you don't know what's goin on lol. You just gotta get used to it and learn what is happening during the battle. Definitely a great game though, tons of stuff to unlock too :p

I gave up hated the controls and my hands were sore after fifteen minutes of play. Game play was amazing but the controls were unforgivable. Dual analog should be utilized as the standard control format then the game would be amazing but for me I just couldn't get past the controls.

I just learned to play the multiplayer, it is very fun in fact and it has more subtility than I thought.

You are in a team, light or dark, 3vs3, when one of your team die, the team loses some of its lifebar and you respawn. The last person who dies and finish the lifebar of the team become Pit. If he is eliminated, the game is lost. That's very interesting because you have to protect it a minimum while hunting for the ennemy Pit if he has appeared.

Add that with non stop action, with everybody firing or trying to get close for the fatal blows and it is very very fun. It has Smash bros fun in it.

I was annoyed by the controls during the first 30 mins but after that it was fine.

Controls are similar to Metroid Prime Hunters, except with the analog instead of a directional pad, which makes things a little weirder to control.

The controls are superior to dual-analog in precision and response time, but have a much harsher learning curve. For me, it took the first 10 chapters before I began to feel comfortable.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

It is definetly a very unique game. One of the best 3DS games I have ever played. I'm ten hours in and I am only on chapter 13.

So far, the story is really good and there are small plot twists here and there that I didn't expect. You have to see it for yourself, it does include humor and references to other games and the original Kid Icarus. I don't see why people hate the dialouge, if you really don't like it then turn off the voices in the settings. You can still listen to the sound effects and music.

The controls work just fine. No problems for me. I do play the game with the stand, but that's only like 30% of time I played with the game. I really like the stand and it's not useless. I also tried out the 3D and it's amazing!

The multiplayer mode is one of the best I have ever played before in my gaming life. It's addictive and very fun. Joining a match is very quick and there are very little framerate drops, but this doesn't stop the action by any means. Also, you don't have to play with anyone to try out the multiplayer since the fill in the player slots with CPUs.

The AR is really good and I like how you can gain hearts by scanning more cards. I really want more cards. The battling is pretty interesting, but as a whole doesn't really do anything however it's fun to watch one character beat another.

One of the things I really like in this game is the achievement system. It rewards you for actually doing something. This is how achievement systems should be!

I'm also surprised by how much content is in this game! There are plenly of multiplayer maps that I didn't know about, I have nine so far(I think there are more). The chapters are much longer than I anticapted. I thought there were only like 15 chapters in the game, but I am surely mistaken! There is also a massive load of weapons and idols to unlock!

Overall, this is a wonderful game to own. If you haven't got this game already then go to Best Buy and grab it for $30! That's too much of a chance to waste on this game! Buy it now!

It reminds me of Starfox Assault. And i'm ok with that.

Gotta get the negatives out of the way. The game's land environments leave a lot to be desired. They are usually empty except for enemies, a few jump pads, and a treasure chest here and there. I wish they had more going on (I'm only about five chapters in btw). And, like many have said, what's up with the controls!? I know the stylus/control pad set up is precise but damn. After a few minutes, my left hand was hurting worse than that one time I watched an Alexis Texas marathon while hopped up on Levitra. They gave us some really botched CPP support. It makes no sense to me.

And now, the good: Pit is my favorite Nintendo character of all time. He instantly leapfrogged Mario, Samus, Link, and everybody else on the Nintendo roster. The writing is great, too. It makes the game. I found myself laughing out loud. After finding a control scheme I could work with, the gameplay was fast and addictive. The reason I'm only on level 5 is because I keep going back and playing the earlier levels. The game is fun and, while familiar, still unlike anything I've ever played. Graphically, the game impresses. The environments are empty and there's a lot of 2D cheating going on, but the image on screen looks great!! 3D is pretty good, too.

It's a flawed game but it's more than the sum of its parts. I give it an 8/10 just because of how charming it is. Haven't given the online a shot, yet.

I find it hilarious that JoelCool gave up when he says he puts Nintendo and God on the same level.
