Gotta get the negatives out of the way. The game's land environments leave a lot to be desired. They are usually empty except for enemies, a few jump pads, and a treasure chest here and there. I wish they had more going on (I'm only about five chapters in btw). And, like many have said, what's up with the controls!? I know the stylus/control pad set up is precise but damn. After a few minutes, my left hand was hurting worse than that one time I watched an Alexis Texas marathon while hopped up on Levitra. They gave us some really botched CPP support. It makes no sense to me.
And now, the good: Pit is my favorite Nintendo character of all time. He instantly leapfrogged Mario, Samus, Link, and everybody else on the Nintendo roster. The writing is great, too. It makes the game. I found myself laughing out loud. After finding a control scheme I could work with, the gameplay was fast and addictive. The reason I'm only on level 5 is because I keep going back and playing the earlier levels. The game is fun and, while familiar, still unlike anything I've ever played. Graphically, the game impresses. The environments are empty and there's a lot of 2D cheating going on, but the image on screen looks great!! 3D is pretty good, too.
It's a flawed game but it's more than the sum of its parts. I give it an 8/10 just because of how charming it is. Haven't given the online a shot, yet.
