If you like RPG/RTS then try out Valkyria Chronicles. Its a great experience, trust me.

Look ahead to see what games coming out in future as well. People listed some cool games in here so take that into consideration.

Valkyria Chronicles is a great game, it should be the first game you get if you get a PS3, but.......it's not RTS.

It's turned based.

Don't know if you like both equally Danne, but I know I'm not a big fan on RTS, but a huge fan of turn based strategy.

I've been thinking about getting me a laptop, but it feels like it won't run the games that are coming out in about 2-3 years... It would be a blast to be able to play skyrim on it tho! And the ME-series...

Indeed.

That looks really sweet!

If you're considering buying a $1,000 PC, I'd say get both a 4GB 360 and a PS3. Then you can play anything you like, and a PS360 cost $380 + tax, you can save that $600 for a Wii U, or a PC when you get bored of your PS360 (by then the $1,000 PC you build now would be $500 or less).

Only thing is I like me some RTS/TBS... :(

Are you buying a $1,000 Tower or laptop? Building from scratch or getting pre-built? You can get really awesome towers that can play games on high or max settings for $600 or so if you build from scratch. I was thinking of building a new Tower as mine in literally 10 years old, and I can build one, from scratch, for $350, and it's significantly more powerful then PS3/360.

You could have it all for $1,000 if you spend your money wisely, and is your PC that bad? Can't you just upgrade it?

Tower meaning stationary? Mine is about 6-8 years old... My brother told me that he isn't too sure if I can upgrade this one actually... But yeah, if I'm getting a tower (stationary) I'll build it myself (or rather; my brother's gonna build it ;)). How come you can build a good tower for $350?! We looked at this one: http://www.komplett.se/k/ki.aspx?sku=742450 The site is in swedish but you can see what parts it's made up of. In UDS it would kost 992...

I swing both ways regarding RTS/TBS: I love Civ and EU3!

Between the two it all comes to the Sony exclusives because that's the only place imo the Playstation shines. Look closely because if you don't like shooters a lot of PS3 exclusives franchises are fps (but 360 is said to be plagued by that... nevermind). Look at the exclusives that interrest you on the PS3 and it not enough of them spark your interrest then get a 360.

Almost every multi games run better on 360 and it's the console that has more PC/360 exclusives and they're good. You might like multi games more than the exclusives also games like Assassin's Creed and Red Dead Redemption are a must. And even if you don't pay for Xbox Live or PSN both offer unique and amazing games via the arcade games (again don't listen to some here these are real complete games and a lot of them are amazing).

Car games are equal on both (I don't know the Motorstorm series but heard it''s good)
Fighting games get the edge on PS3 for extra characters on Mortal Kombat and SF vs Tekken
PC ports are a no brainer... they're better on 360
RPG's a no brainer as well as 360 gets more of greater quality as long as you don't consider Final Fantasy to be the only good rpg out there.
Adventure I would give it to Playstation

There's also the motion games. Coming from the Wii you will feel at home with the PS Move as it's virtually the same but in HD.

Kinect is what it is right now... still in child mode. Some games are interresting though but I wouldn't invest in one if I were you as you might have more fun with Wii games.

You could save up to 100$ by going with 360 on the console alone. PSN is free and you can't complain when it's free. XBL is amputed when you don't have a gold account.

How do you save $100 going with the 360? I saved more money with the PS3. Plus the PS3 is $50 cheaper.

Is the PS3 150$ now? Because if I go to any retailer a 360 will be 199.99$. Now you'll tell me that with wifi and online blablabla... Wifi comes bundled and you don't have to have a gold account. You also don't have to pay for the Kinect or a Hard drive, sure it's better if you have one though but the guy comes from the Wii which doesn't have one, a USB key will be good enough.

My family bought me a $199 360 and I had to put down $130 on the HD. If you're a gamer, its still cheaper to have a PS3. Stop making excuses. The Arcade slim is useless. It makes it harder to see the 360's cost effectiveness, because if you're a gamer their is none. The PS3 is still $249 with a HD

Just curious, why  did you paid $130 for a HD?? I understand you bought it at a local store, but you shoudl have looked around more. When I upgraded to a slim last year in Sept. I bought a brand new 250GB HD for $55 on Amazon. I know the 320GB is more, but you could have still only spent around $80-90 on Amazon. Anyways it's easy to save money on Amazon, newegg, etc. on accessaries.

Your right, you can easily spend a lot of money on accessaries, but if your a smart shopper you can also save a lot.

I swing both ways regarding RTS/TBS: I love Civ and EU3!

Fancy case +$100, DVD RW (With Lightscribe?)+ $30, 1TB hard drive +$100 (It's also over-priced on that website, I recently bought 3TB Western Digital with an external case for $150, I can find 500GB for <$50), also there are graphics card 90% as good for 50-60% the price (($300 for that one)

However that's a good price for a processor, and RAM.

If that's $1,000 it's because it's pre-built, those parts at local Computer Stores (for me Canada Computers) should cost $700 or less, and by removing or reduce bs extra's (do you really need 1TB? Do you have any externals ATM? You don't need a $300 graphics card, think there is a new gen of graphics cards releasing soon too, so wait for a price crash)

Still, for fun I built a $350 computer ($400 if you add a hard-drive, I was planing on using an external I have) and it's about 80-90% as powerful. I'm too cheap so I didn't buy it, and I'd have to find out which graphics card exactly, but yea. I had a 3.4 Ghz processor, same RAM, similar motherboard, a used shitty case, the Dual Layer DVD drive from my PC (but a used one is $10-$15), and a lower end graphics card. Mind you this price is before tax.

I still use a 14GB 360 as my primary console. I had to expand memory with an 8GB tumb drive, but how much is one of those now? Last I checked, it's <$10.

I also download a lot of DLC, but I do delete it for old games. Currently I have DLC for Mass Effect 2, Fallout 3, Gears 3, Forza 2, 3, 4, Alan Wake, Too human, Lost Odyssey, Oblivion, Magna Carta 2, Halo Reach, DBZ: Burst Limit, Resident Evil 6, and others on my hard drive, and I still had 4 GB left ontop of all my saved data (which I never delete).

You only really need more then 20GB if you install games. 360 does not require you to install games, and it doesn't make load times any faster (just makes it quieter). PS3 requires installation on many games, often times installs are 10GB in size. So while 20GB is more then enough on a 360, it's useless on a PS3 because you would only be able to play 2 or 3 games on it.

The 360 Arcade is far from useless.

XBL is almost useless, but not the 360 Arcade, that's a bargan and the way I see it, anybody who has enough $$$ to play PC or PS3 games and wants a second console, this is an obvious choice (unless you're considering the Wii). The price of the system is only the cost of 2 new games, and it's worth it even if it's just for Halo, Forza, Fable, Gears, and a few 3rd party exclusive shooters and JRPG's.

Although, not the cheapest option, PS3 is the best choice. 360's exclusives are largely available on PC, or not AAA quality. However I would eliminate a bunch of those games as they are available on other consoles, or have poor reviews.

What's wrong with you? Why did you cross out these games? None of them are on PC or 360.
Also, I forgot Wipeout HD + expansion. Want to cross that one out, too?
