"The Town Meeting Song" by The Polyphonic Spree immediately popped into my head when I saw this thread.

...

It's one of the most ridiculous songs I've ever heard, but I love it. Especially when you get to 6:17.

Lol, that was the weirdest remix I've ever heard of that song. Weird, but good.

I still like the original better, though.

excellent wide range of tunes

I'm finding it funny how many of these song suggestions are in Rock Band!

As for me, I love my progressive:

Andromeda - Veil of Illumination
Rush - 2112
Rush - Hemispheres
Yes - South Side of the Sky
Opeth - Ghost of Perdition
Jethro Tull - Thick as a brick

Practically anything by Dream Theater
90% of all Rush Tunes
75% of all Andromeda tunes
80% of all Yes tunes

Then we've got various subsections of Metal:

Elvenking - A Poem for the Firmament
Nightwish - The Poet and the Pendulum
Nightwish - Ghost Love Score
Blind Guardian - ...And Then There was Silence
Iced Earth - Gettysburg 1863
Iced Earth - Dante's Inferno
Iced Earth - Something Wicked This Way Comes
Symphony X - The Odyssey
Symphony X - Through the Looking Glass
Symphony X - The Divine Wings of Tragedy
Liquid Tension Experiment - Paradigm Shift
Rhapsody - Gargoyles, Angels, and Darkness
Rhapsody - Symphony of Enchanted Lands
Kamelot - March of Mephisto
Kamelot - Nothing Ever Dies

You can't go wrong with Metallica, Megadeth, Iron Maiden, Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, the Who, Queen....I could go on. Also, Dream Theater. they have a lot of songs that qualify as epic. they even have songs that are 20 minutes or more, including "A Change of Seasons", "Octavarium", "In the Presence of Enemies", and my personal favorite "six Degrees of Inner Turbulence" which is 42 minutes long.

by 'epic' we mostly mean 'long and awesome', right?

At first I was dissapointed that it wasn't the He-man intro - but DAMN! that song ROCKS :D

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.
