I'm not a Ninty fan, but I remember that at the apex of Wii's success my craziest prediction was: 140M with little effort, 160M with more efforts, 180M with total commitment and 200M with total commitment, no errors at all and incredible luck. Back then it looked like just production capacity could stop Wii from growing even more, and the fact that users didn't care for fancy graphics made it appear future-proof. But even then I never predicted PS3's demise, as it started doing better when Wii was growing at an incredible pace, and it grew also during periods of good sales for XB360, showing that each console managed to cater for little overlapping market segments (even now only a few great blockbusters show big overlapping between XB360 and PS3, obviously outside of them there's still a great degree of independence between their respective targets).
Ninty can only blame itself, not third parties, as since the beginning Wii's user base, unlike the DS one, showed it was perfectly fine with almost only first party games, not to mention that before Kinect, Wii + Balance Board owned almost exclusively the fitness and dance market.
Man I really miss all the insane wild predictions people used to make in these forums. It seems the overall sales discussions are way down as it is. Although this late into the generation its not really that hard to make predictions. Its pretty safe to say we know where everything is gonna settle.
When all is said and done this gen all 3 consoles are going to finish pretty close to each other in sales. With Wii still finishing on top.
Still though that prediction of 240 million is just epic. I remember back when Leo-J was running around claiming LBP would sell a minimum of 10 million+ units and cause a massive spike in PS3 sales to casuals. Those days were fun

Dont worry man, those days will be back as soon as Wii U, Xbox 3 and Ps4 are released!
Insane predictions will come again, some people will say Cod will die, others that a new game will sell milions, others that Ps4 will destroy everything and so on...
Hopefully fun days will come again, i remember my predictions back in 2005 in other Portuguese forums were fucking awfull... Lol
I said Xbox was doomed, Ps3 would lead the way and Wii was doomed aswell xD Than i bought a Xbox :p

Well avinash_tyagi expected Wii to sell more than entire Playstation family combined (about 394 million currently...) . These forums used to be so much more active back in the day with crazy predictions and constant console war. =D

Count me in that crowd. While even I (one of the most die hard Nintendo fans) realized his predictions were highly inflated. I still liked him as a person and I even played Animal Crossing: City Folk with him a few times. I believe I impressed him with my bad ass (legit) town. My only wish is that I could play more Animal Crossing with him considering we didn't meet up as much as I would have liked. I suppose I better contact him for future 3DS Animal Crossing.

The game should of but I suppose Nintendo owns the platform category. It would be nice if Nintendo implemented some of LBP's features in one of their 2D Mario games. Having custom levels would be huge but Nintendo has pretty damn good design anyways when it comes to platform games. Having user made levels would increase the re playability.
