I don't think I've ever watched a full episode before, either. I just googled "jaw drop" and that's one of the pics that came up. It captured my raw emotion at the time.
Why is everyone cheering on Nintendo to fail? They've only been ahead of the curve for the past two-and-a-half decades, and that's not counting the 20-odd years before that when they were toy-makers!

Is that supposed to be a joke?

Yep, aren't they still toy makers?
| logic56 said: it's current sales rate is only vindictive of a slow start, a slow start that will pick up once the games you think they shouldn't/aren't making because of the slow start eventually end up on the system, the more games they make higher the system will pick up. and 3rd parties this generation have proven they'd rather go high end instead of low end, my point is given that the current situation for Vita is a launch situation multiplatform is easier option for better profit margin without the 3ds being the clearly inferior machine that it is, I mean you hear people saying 3ds games can match Vita games now (which I think is be very generous) but 2-3 years from now once the power of the Vita is more easily harnessed it would be comparing ps3 games to wii games, but it's not 2 years from now, it's launch, remember ps3 games didn't live up to the hype at launch not only because they were not as good as the 05 trailers, they were also worse than games seen on 360. That's the advantage the 3ds has now for 3rd parties, effort in launch games don't have to be the best and aren't expected to be, much like the situation with 360 and ps3, 3rd party games were either exclusive to 360 or miltiplat, but after 2-3 years 08-09 complete turn around, because by that time the Vita would have amassed a userbase large enough to justify high profile 3rd party games that utilize the systems power, now of course 1st parties will beat them to the punch but that's the thing with Sony platforms, 1st parties and 3rd parties complement each other not compete, the better Sony first party titles do the better more motivated 3rd parties become. Like I said ubisoft, activision, bethesda, ccp, and various other first and third parties will announce games I'm sure will blow people away I can't pin point exactly who, or what but I can assure that they're coming. People are mistaking Sony not doing much as a sign of nothing to come, "why aren't they in panic mode like Nintendo last year, game heaven underwhelmed Vita future looks murky"...umm no game heaven was a web cast nothing more nothing less, and they aren't worried because they don't have to be, as I've said before in another thread, when the 3ds was doing poorly so was everything else Nintendo, they weren't lighting up the chartz at all and seeing how the wii was falling completely off a cliff the 3ds was really all they had so drastic measures had to be taken, not so with Sony, Playstation as a whole is doing fine, better than everyone else in fact, so Sony has the luxury to wait until E3,Gamescom, TGS to show the future of the Vita, allow the developers time to straighten up and better their games so when they do announce stuff it's more than this
Vita might not be making tons of money but it isn't losing any either so they're just letting it coast, whatever it does means nothing, now after the big gaming conventions and when it gets it's first true holiday I believe things will be very different |
Punctuation is not a mere suggestion. Think of the poor reader...
A few thoughts:
1) Cross-platform portability isn't as simple as you're making it out to be. Unless the 3DS and Vita share similar architecture, porting a game from one to the other can take a lot more resources than you're assuming. Whether that proves to be a high enough barrier remains to be seen, but this factor can not be discarded.
2) When you say "much like the situation with 360 and ps3, 3rd party games were either exclusive to 360 or miltiplat, but after 2-3 years 08-09 complete turn around," do you mean that third-party games generally stopped being multiplat?
3) "Like I said ubisoft, activision, bethesda, ccp, and various other first and third parties will announce games I'm sure will blow people away." This is the type of statement I was asking about earlier, albeit with the hope of something more concrete.
4) "Vita might not be making tons of money but it isn't losing any either." Are you sure?

Are you sure? absolutely positive, that's common sense actually considering the cost of parts, memory cards, 3g unit, and online store (cuts out the middle man) if they not make profit then they are breaking even |

I dunno, that actually made some sense to me, don't know why.
As for the outcome of this comparison thing, adding the circle pad thing just so the 3DS can compete with input is very fanboyish.
Considering b/c for the 3DS and then going all negative with the Vita's b/c just because it didn't support all of the games plus many UMD games is bery fanboyish also. The 3DS may have b/c but the vast majority of those games are lame ass shovelware. At least Sony got it right to get as many good psp games to run on the vita. Quality > Quantity. With regards to the 3DS VS Vita actual game library, I could care less about mario and his stupid cars nor do I give a damn about his slut gf. Dont get me wrong, I adorred by 3DS (which i sold due to financial reasons) but its game liblary is lame, even now I find it lame. Uncharted + hot shots golf + Gravity Crush (or whateverf its called) > every game on the 3ds combined, but thats just me.
The strange part is that if i ever do stumble upon some extra disposable income, I'd most likely re-buy a 3DS instead of the so cooool and awesome Vita. Face it, with 15+M consoles sold worldwide and it selling almost twice as much as the Vita right now, plus the fact that the 3DS at least has some decent horsepower under the hood, its gonna get games, lots and lots of games. the vast majority would most likely be shovelware again, but I'm all but certain that its gonna get a lot of great 3rd party support.
If the new RE game plus Nintendo getting its very first ever real tekken game (tekken advance didn't cut it for me) is any indication, i'm sure i'm right.
Looks like George Bush just stole the election!!! I demand a recount!!!! Logic56 sounds like a reasonable fellow, maybe he should be put in charge around here.

I can respect your opinion. As for the games thing, I heavily supported the PSP and I downloaded over 2/3 of my games. I'm sure Sony will fix it (God, I hope they do) but when key games like Resistance Retribution, Hot Shots Tennis, Mod Nation Racers, and Syphon Filter don't make the cut, I can't support your "Quality > Quantity" argument. Keep in mind that I actually downloaded four PSP games the week before the VIta launch for the sole purpose of transferring them to the Vita when it launched. Luckily for me, all of those games (except MGS1 for the PS1) transferred over..
It's okay if you find the 3DS library to be lacking. If your opinion in games differs from mine, then the Vita is the winner. Grab it. Plus, I'm with you. Gravity Rush is the game I'm most excited for. It was the game I was going to buy a Vita for (I stated it time and again in these forums) but I caved in and bought one at launch.
As for me being a fanboy, I got a PSP in 2009. I got a DS in 2004. When I got my PSP, my support for the DS stopped dead in its tracks. I'm a fan of more mature games. I made countless threads about why the PSP is awesome, why you should hang on to your PSP, and more. In my opinion, the PSP is a better buy than the DS. The DS has some great games but the PSP has more than enough good games than anybody could ever play. It has the kind of games that I'd like to play. With the 3DS, Nintendo now offers the kind of games I'd like in portable (Mature, console styled games) in addition to great games designed with portables in mind. Add to that the DS Library (My DS was gathering dust but since buying a 3DS, I've purchased 3 DS games and I play them often.
The Vita is a great system. The potential is there and if Sony unlocks it, this comparison would have a very different outcome later on down the line. When I get the VIta version of a game with the purchase of the PS3 version (as they promised), when I get Cross Platform play with something besides Pool (which they promised), when my digital PSP/PS1 library works on the Vita (as they promised), I'll gladly call the Vita the winner. Right now, I have a powerful console with games that I buy/play just to keep the system relevant while I wait for the good games to come. I couldn't recommend the Vita to someone over the 3DS with a clear conscience because, in my opinion, there just isn't enough to play on the Vita yet and the 250 PSP games that are supported aren't the best ones.
Thanks for your reply. Oh, and this part isn't directed to you but: People, I asked for input on this thread as it was being made. Only one guy gave me some info and I instantly edited the OP as a result. I wanted this thing to be as honest and accurate as possible when I made it. If I ever do one of these things again (and hopefully I will because I kinda enjoyed it!) help me out while it's being made. I do value the opinion of others! JoelCool, looks like you have some competition in the "long reply" catgory!
