Platinum trophies deal with the DLC issue better, in that with achievements, you may get 1000/1200 without actually getting the original 1000 points, so everything becomes blurry. But with a platinum trophy, you're sure that you got the trophies associated with the base game, and the sense of completion remains whether or not you go for the extra trophies in the DLC or not.

I wish there were more stats available for the trophy system though. It was interesting when Sony recently released the top 10 games which people have attained the platinum trophy:

i have no idea what trophy thingy you speak of, but these achievement things is all i hear about, but what tops all that is these prestige things for some game called call of.............

well it doesn't matter really, as they are all needless! i was already sick of trophies and achievements, but now i have to spend the rest of this gen. listening to gamers bitch about trophies!

Everyone who saids they dont' get trophy, i propose a challenge to you. Try to platinum a game first. Once you do it, you will know why it is so addictivie. Try a single player game first...the online ones u will never get haha

I only plat Xbox but I've 1000p'd quite a few games. Still couldn't care less if these points got deleted though as the fun part is to get them.

I said that it "can be" a negative point that you get platinum trophy without doing any of the DLC.
To me that trophy is simply unneccessary because it's a trophy for completing a specific (i.e. last) trophy so it has no connenction to the game. Therefore also messes up your completion rate and loses it's meaning when there's new DLC: "Unlock all other trophies" - trophy description is wrong.

As I also said it's easier to see how many games someone has "completed". That one is not possible with XBL gamercards, but can be seen on the dash board under "Number of games completed" (guess that is what it says on the English dash board)

Does the PS3 community actually have a dedicated trophy site like trueachievements ? (and I'm not talking about ps3trophies.org) Lot's of interesting stats where you can compare yourself to others.

As a fan of both consoles, I am far more addicted to PS3 trophies than Xbox 360 achievements. I just have to get that platinum.

Trophies are lame. Anyone who buys crappy games just to get platinum is just plain odd. I've got two platinum trophies, and at least five that I could easily get if I didn't have a life. Seriously, 90% of trophies are just waste your time doing boring stuff. The trophy sound on Ps3 is really annoying too, I hope there's some option to turn it off in the next generation.

Perhaps Sony fans with OCD. I've got like 4 different accounts on my vita for various regions and don't care for trophies.

Same here - Goes for the 360 and Steam too.
I don't care for Achievements/Trophies at all - If i like a game i will finish it to 100% and i dont care if i get something for it except the feeling that i had while playing it.
And if i dont like the game,even if it has easy trophies/Achievements i won't play it anymore - There is no reason for me to collect this stuff especially if this game isn't fun.
