Forums - Gaming - I think it's safe to say the PS3 is the definitive graphics king for this gen

Double post.

Around the Network

who cares about that by now? new gen is already knocking on the door and even if uc3 or gow3 are very good looking, the 360 still has very good looking games. it is not that these titles are too far off.
ps3 *is* third in competition and was for the last years - market domination broken. that is what i think counts. we have a real *competition* by now which should put a smile on every gamers' face because it often lead to better games in the past (graphically and in terms of game quality).

I say yes and no.

Yes, because the exclusives have constantly been the best looking games of any given year.

No, because the multiplat thing. 3rd parties could not get the hang of things, picture quality wasn;t even the end of it, it was visual performance: framerate drops and screen tears.

It was the best when it was allowed to shine with exclusive games, but it was second fiddle when it had to play in the same sandpit with 360. Too hard to develop for, too lazy to do decent PS3 ports whatever the reason 3rd parties couldn't get the hang of it, whatever the reason PS3 delivered a second placed graphics experience for the vast majority of games. It is just fortunate that there is such a huge library of PS3 exclusives to balance thinbgs out.

But, I wouldn't trade. I would have the unequal graphics on the multiplats with the stunning exclusives that PS3 delivered than the steadily good graphics on 360 across multiplats and exclusives.

Ignoring the PC is like saying England is the best country as long as you don't count the US.

Very few people estimate England to be a 'best' country. Nor is it very wonderful to live there if one considers the high childhood depression and climate. The picture becomes even more bleak when one considers the superiority agenda led by British academic institutions. Incredible to see that their work has had such a profound impact on opinion.

And no-one in their right mind would consider a country that will never be able to repay it's debt a king.

Bullshots and trailer screens aren't proof of anything ^

Yep, every shot I've seen posted in this thread has more AA than a Pixar movie when every PS3 game I've witnessed in real life has little to no AA.

Again, since you obviously didn't read the comments or played the game, the God of War III screens are IN-GAME.

playing right now: Xenoblade Chronicles

Hype-o-meter, from least to most hyped:  the Last Story, Twisted Metal, Mass Effect 3, Final Fantasy XIII-2, Final Fantasy Versus XIII, Playstation ViTA

bet with Mordred11 that Rage will look better on Xbox 360.

I thought this was known back in2006..

Hmmm

I think it could have been, but it hasnt been, and through no fault of Sonys (well I guess they take some of the blame, as they made it hard to develop for).

The Xbox stopped PS from being the best this generation due to its popularity. Though Sony's console had some great exclusives, most of the biggest games and success's have been the multiplatform games, which are usually inferior on PS3 compared to the Xbox 360 iterations.

Though I believe the PS3 the superior hardware, and they made it hard to develop for believing they would be the dominant console (they thought that everyone would prioritise development on PS3 because it would be the dominant console like the PS2) that didnt happen, as the Xbox proved so popular developers based there games on that tech and ported it too PS3 and usually poorly.

You would think that my statements come from bitterness due to the concentration camps run by the British here in South Africa. That is not the fact. I used to idolize England growing up and 2 of my siblings lived and worked there for 5 years.

My estimation of England only plumeted when I studied the British invasion of India.

Incredible that such a small country with such limited workforces and resources have managed to amass such wealth and power. Regardless, that reign has ended some time ago. The only lasting wealth will be the academic authority they have established.
