Interesting, you got a point here.
For whatever reasons, Japan has moved home consoles to the backseat over the last few years, so they´d be more willing to accept home console like games on handhelds.
If your hypothesis is indeed true, then any handheld that is full of home console like games, can never really hope to have a very healthy software market (healthy sales) in the West.
