Just...amazing.

There's such a strong potential for a very deep story. Simply can't wait to hear more.

I totally agree, but from a tech demo perspective, it is just meh.

It is a good video with great emotions and chances for a great storyline, but it is not an outstanding tech demo to me.

Of course not! It's not running on the 360 after all. ¬_¬

could you please stop this bs. Don't try to label me as a 360 fanboy. If this turns out to be a game, I am 100% interessted in it. The tech behind it just does not seem that impressive to me.

How is this NOT impressive? It looks far better than any game we've ever seen on consoles...and the facial animations are just unmatched (PC or console...)

Seriously you need to play more games. Graphics haven't improved at all or maybe only slightly since Heavy Rain judging from that tech demo and that wasn't the best looking game at that time either so there are quite a few better looking ones available.
LA Noire still beats these facial animations by a country mile.

I need to play more games? Look at the games I'm playing, they are some of the best looking games ever made and I have a capable PC to run them at their best and I've played most of the good looking PS3 exclusives...so I definitely don't need to play more games. Click "Play in HD". Seriously, it's an entirely new engine. Name me some games that look better (console games)

I was going to mention LA Noire as an exception, but then I realized eye movements are a part of facial animations.

Not going to bother to write a list. Would take too much time.

If that's really a whole new engine, then they wasted a LOT of time, because graphically it looks like Heavy Rain 1.1 and I'm being generous here. Simply put take the ...10 best looking games of this gen and they already outdo this tech demo. Therefore the only real interesting part on a technical level are indeed the facial animations, that are indeed very good, but overall not better than LA Noire.
To answer CGI's post, LA Noire surely had some graphical problems and the dev team did not put the same kind of work in other areas of animation. Therefore this tech demo basically shows less impressive facial animation mixed with better graphics.

No, I do. I just fundamentally believe that games should be available to as many people as possible. For a business it makes sense and for gamers it makes sense. Why would any gamer want a game to be limited to a small number for potential fans when it's developer is independent and could have easily ported or co-developed the same game for as many platforms as possible?

If you'd do, you'd understand that many such occurences happen when a publisher approaches such developer to make the game for them.  Sometimes, it's the other way around, for different reasons like seeking funding.  But many times, it also happens because a publisher is looking for that dev's expertise in one given genre.

You wouldn't want a game you heavily funded to end up on your direct competitor's console.  It just wouldn't make any sense.  Heavy Rain is one such example.

There's also IPs that are owned by the publisher, like, say, Pokemon, that ends up being developed by a second party dev like Game Freak.  Obviously, they should develop their own games and go multi-platform, right?

Not all developers have deep pockets, but they have the talent.  So they seek fundings from bigger publishers.  In this day and age, making games is really expensive, and not all smaller devs wish to settle on making iOS games.

Dude, I understand it. But that doesn't mean I agree with. The way I feel about game development the only acceptable "2nd Party" partnership is the "Pokemon" example you gave. Nintendo owns the IP and contracted a developer to do it. That developer doesn't have any control, they are just doing a job for a another company. If they didn't do it Nintendo would just hire someone else to do it or do it themselves internally. I don't have a problem with that. What I don't like, what I fundamentally wish there was less of, are games exclusive to a single platform that aren't owned or developed by the platform holder. Like I said, I fully understand the workings of 3rd Party, "2nd Party", and 1st Party developers, but that's doesn't mean I have to agree with the decisions that developers make when the end results in fewer gamers able to play the games.

At one time Quantic Dream was multiplatform. For some reason that changed after they made a deal with Sony. Now all of a sudden they are exclusive to the PS3 when many of their fans first played their games on PC, Dreamcast, and Xbox. For some reason Quantic Dream is willing to abondon those fans and sell less then they would if they released on all available platforms. Sure Sony's money helps, but they could have made a deal with Activision, EA, Ubisoft, etc. They may not have gotten as much money but they would have probably made more money in the end and created a larger fan base too.

Just to let you guys know, this tech demo is a year old now.

David Cage said this was running on the first version of the engine, they are now on the third version and there have been big improvements.

Nope, just the fact that this tech demo has proper AA is enough to outdo almost all console games. Then we have great lighting effects, animations, and a quality character model that doesn't look like a mess of polygons (like ME3's characters do, for a recent example).

Well since you have a PS3, I feel that a lot of PS3 exclusives lack AA. Therefore it might seem THAT much more advanced to you. Lighting effects are a bit better than average. PLENTY of games with better lighting. Character model is nice indeed. Among the best, but also not top tier.

It's a freakin' tech demo. People should say OMGGG SH!T TH@T L00KS AMAZ1NG !!!!1!!1. Instead most of the replies say that it has potential to be a great story.
I also was't impressed by the WiiU tech demo though. Didn't look that advanced to me considering it's a new gen console. Only recent one that got me impressed was the Samarithan tech demo and that was still running with Unreal Engine 3 (newest version though obviously)

I don't know about you but this looks damn good to me:

And Samaritanwas (originally) running on three GTX 580! And this demo is only running on a PS3.

Dunno if that's just Eurogamer's fault and they did just take a screenshot of the video, but the picture looks way worse when viewed in fullscreen.
Anyway looks like a mixture of Portal 2 and Heavy Rain, but hardly more graphically advanced than any of those.

Can't wait. Really enjoyed Heavy Rain.

Go watch The last of us, Ellies facial expressions are fucking amazing.

This being quite an old build was still awesome but just not there yet when comparing it to UC3/TLOU, basically ND's work but give it time. HOWEVER I did feel VERY emotional through these 7 minutes and if thats what QD are doing: Fucking count me in. I loved Heavy Rain anyway so I'm on the first day buy - train. I did however find a real personality in Kara .. they really were able to sell me on that.

"I'm scared!"

I almost cried like a kid.

PS3 Tech demo? You're about 8 years late Quantic Dream.

Why? There's a whole sub-culture out there of people making nothing but tech demos for old (and current) platforms.

Guys I hope you that "Kara" has nothing todo with Quantic Dreams new game.
