I just recently got access to a Wii, so now thanks to my Platinum status, I get to play Majora's Mask for the first time! Any suggestions? Also, do I HAVE to get a classic controller?

Yes, don't let the Moon fall. Ever. Or you'll have to start over from the start no matter how far you've gotten.

Even if I just saved? Wow that's harsh. I suppose the Apocalypse is like that.

Majora's Mask is a great game. A great shakeup of the usual Zelda story formula. I didn't get it because I already own a copy on the Gamecube (and played it to death).

You can use the GameCube controller for N64 games I believe. Wouldn't buy the classic controller pro for just one game.

It is harsh, but I'm not trying to scare you ;).

Even if you saved your game, if the Moon falls your file basically gets erased. If memory serves, when time runs out, a cutscene is shown and the game starts over. Like in most Zeldas, your game is autosaved after certain events, so when the game restarts, your back at the very beginning of the game.

But hey, all you gotta do is remember the Song of Time:  > A v > A v  :D  (but you can only do that if you've learned the song ofcourse...)

So Priority #1 is learning a song? Sounds easy. What's the catch?

Let me guess: I have to do some crazy sidequest within the time limit first.

Not really, within the first three days, when you're still a little Deku Scrub, you basically have to follow the main quest which is very linear if you know what to do.

A first hint is given by the Happy Mask Salesman before you enter Clocktown, which basically has you looking around the town up until the end of the Third Day. You just need to figure out a way to get to the Skullkid in time to return your old Link-self again. The catch is, you can't get to the Skullkid directly, and the way to get to him is kind of 'hidden'and unobvious. Story events will automatically give you the song at the end, because it is basically the most important thing you'll need in the game.

After that the game really begins.

I don't want to start sounding like a Strategy Guide though, because it's too much fun figuring it out yourself! :)

That video must be for Japan

Does anyone think Smash Bros. is coming out in 2012/13? like the people who made the video seem to think

Man, Bravely Default: Flying Fairy and Fire Emblem, especially, look beautiful!

Only delusional people. Brawl was in development for 2 and a half years, so part of me doubts we'll see this new game until holiday 2014. Of course, with Namco Bandai adding their resources to the project, I can imagine them getting it done 6 months or so early. My optimistic guess: they announce it for holiday season 2013 and it gets delayed to summer 2014.

Majoras is an amazing game
i only disliked the fact that you lose every progress each time you go back to day one and you had to replay a lot of unnecessary stuff
still a true masterpiece
better than Oot imo

The only 'progress' you lose when using the Song of Time is the progress of the amount of rupees you gathered and the amount of useable ammo (bombs, arrows and the like) you have. The rupees can be stored in a bank though, so there's an option to keep those.

Also, all the puzzles and sidequests are reset, which is logical considering you've rewound time, so if you haven't completed a dungeon you'll have to do most of it again. Luckily, the dungeons, except the final one, aren't that large and are easily doable in the amount of time given. A day is 45 minutes, so you have 2 hours 15 minutes, plus the six minutes which is the very last minute (try to wrap your head around that one), to complete a dungeon. If you know 'the trick' you'll have double the time!

I agree on the Masterpiece part. Not on the better than OoT part though, but that's preference ;).

But let's get back to some Nintendo News!
