Forums - Nintendo - Top 8 games that were wasted on the Wii

100% agree about DKCR controls. I was really hoping the classic controller I got with Goldeneye would work. Intead you have to shake the wii-mote to roll. Really wonder why they couldn't support the classic controller. All that aside, it's a fantastic game.

I'd say it's solely to justify the motion controls existence. They did the same with both Galaxies and Twilight Princess (I'm sure there's a lot more, but I didn't buy too many Wii games.)

Rol, you enjoy toying with people way too much. Usually I laugh alongside you but this one seems to have blown so far over their heads they never even heard it passing them by.

The rEVOLution is not being televised

ugh Kirby's Epic Yarn *shudders*
Kirby's Return to Dreamland is better in every aspect.

Personally i wish Xenoblade Chronicles, The last story, Zelda SS, Tales of symphonia from the new world and Nights 2 were all ported to the 3DS. They would be sure buys for me, even nights 2 that is supposed to be very meh... i wanted to support the series but SEGA went and released it on a system i had no interest in.

Agree with the list, I had to play Xenoblade on a SD TV because on my HD TV the game looked horrible. It's such a shame because the game is beatiful in it's own way.
Also I think Kirby Epic Yarn really looked great on Wii, and the case on Muramasa I think it was first a Wii title because if it was launched for the HD twins it will probably be only on PSN or XBLA because the game is in 2D.

Skyward Sword and Prime 3 would most likely have been inferior on PS360 due to being handcuffed to dual analogue controls. (Move could have helped, but I doubt they'd bother)

Galaxy 2 as well, to a lesser extent.

If anything the entire Wii library is handcuffed by motion controls. (Except titles like Wii Sports, obviously.)

Prime 3's pointer controls blow dual analogue aiming out of the water, and Skyward Sword simply couldn't be done without motion unless you absolutely crippled the combat.

We both know that is bullshit. Dual analogs have far more precision while motion controls are heavily inaccurate and clumsy.

As for skyward Sword, that could easily have been done with another joystick. But if you like swinging your arms around like a (insert offensive word) that's fine by me.

I've always found dual analogue control to be too clumsy for FPS games. It should be mentioned that the control system he was talking about wasn't motion control (which was very clumsy pre M+ and is still fairly clumsy) but the IR pointer functionality which is much less so.

Personal control preference is probably mouse for FPS games.

Also combat in Skyward Sword couldn't have been replicated well on a joystick, the motion controls really added to it.

@OP. I disagree with quite a lot but most particularly with your opinion of the SS art style, I adore the style. Probably my favourite look for a Zelda yet. There are other criticisms I have of the game but none are with how it looks.

So basically the 8 best games on Wii are wasted. Lol, that's funny. I think Mario Kart 3D and Super Mario Land 3D are also wasted, on Vita the would look so much better.

Game of the year 2017 so far:

5. Resident Evil VII
4. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
3. Uncharted: The Lost Legacy
2. Horizon Zero Dawn
1. Super Mario Odyssey

Bolded: True, but you still move your controller around to make actions.

Underlined: Perfectly understandable.

Italics: Also understandable, if you're a fan of motion controls. I'd have preferred a classic controller.

There's a better reason why KEY was wasted on the Wii. Platformers where you can't die have found a welcoming home on 360/PS3.
