I'm not sure if I am interested in a opinion about Sega from a guy who doesn't know the difference between Dutch and German.

I am not sure you read my text correctly.

I said I got it from a dutch source but THEIR source is a german site.

I am dutch duh.

I bet you when the sales for that Beijing 2008 game eventually dwindle and you compare its lifetime sales to Mario & Sonic, sega will realize the cashcow that is Mario.

Moo!

anything with mario sells

Guys think about it. Sega predicted M&S would sell 4m. And look at the development put in it. An official Olympics game launched that late will only sell for a couple months tops, and will not sell anywhere's near that much. Maybe 500k. Plus development costs will be much higher. Sega isn't going to spend a ton of M&S $$ on this game only to lose it. Most likely this game will be an even cheaper cash in than M&S.

Not if I'm wrong and it's the best Olympics game ever... Well... Then you can be mad.

Exactly.  This is the cash-in.  I don't know why anyone could possibly care about this game being made, or see it as an attack on the Wii...

Why are you so enraged?

The Wii people got a game and now the PS3/X360 people will get their game, and maybe Wii will get a port.

Bet with OriGin: Within 1 year Super Smash Bros. Brawl will be ahead of Mario Kart Wii (when aligning the one whole year from each region). 2 week ban from Vgchartz for the loser. Edit: Darn! Looks like OriGin will win.

Sega....

It's basically a "Make crappy games for the Wii, sit back, and let the cash roll in and then use that money to develop more serious projects for the other platforms" perspective.

Well if the crappy game (which I own) for the Wii sells, and sells better than the serious project (which I won't own), you can hardly blame them for doing it.

US -> Uncharted has sold less than Kane & Lynch

Yup. Wii got the better 2008 Olympics game here.

And OP, M&S is offically licensed by the IOC. M&S is a "real" Olympics game.

There is no such thing as a console war. This is the first step to game design.

I don't think it's such a big deal, it's logical really. They get the license to make an official olympics game, probably cost a decent chunk of money, now they must recoup that. They make an olympics game for wii using some characters that will boost sales especially among the demographic. But still bearing the license they continue to use it in order to profit from what they bought. Now do they create yet another olympic game on the same system to compete with the first one they made, or do they make another one that would appeal to the common demographic on two other systems in order to reach even more people? It's really just a logical thing to do, and I doubt it's going to be some incredible 30 million dollar budget game (it's sega we're talking about). It will probably be no better than M&S and probably not sell as well.

You can find me on facebook as Markus Van Rijn, if you friend me just mention you're from VGchartz and who you are here.

I don't get what all the fuss is about, they can't put Mario and Sonic on the PS3 and 360 so they have to make a seperate game for those people. Big deal.

Nintendo still doomed?
Feel free to add me on 3DS or Switch! (PM me if you do ^-^)

I don't really understand where is the problem. In my mind, every console was getting an official Beijing Olympics game, with the Wii getting a Mario and Sonic modded version with good Wiimote controls (much better than button mashing).
Have you even looked at the 360/PS3/PC version screenshots ? Mario & Sonic is definitely the superior version, and I think Sega spent more money to make M&S than the other versions.
