So can someone explain to me why the ending is so horribly bad? It wasn't the most optimal of endings and I think they did it that way just so they could have a big twist at the end but really I thought the ending was just fine. I actually liked it.

Let's try this approach instead. Why makes you like the ending?

(And don't worry, I will explain my issues with it. I just think it will be more effective to explain it this way)

Well I liked the twist at the end and I think it made more sense then just having the crucible fire and you never really knowing who was behind the cycles and why it happened every 50,000 years or so. I just wish that the ending would have contained more background on the race of the little boy. The whole ending got me thinking and wanting more (which is good). After the credits came up I got the "wow that was really cool" feeling that is so rare in video games.

I would love for someone to make a Mass Effect book explaining that race and their decision to make cycles. (It would be much like the Forunner books for Halo)

I realize I'm robbing my topic of eight hundred billion replies, but would it be all right if this discussion was moved to the topic about how much the ending sucks? If possible I would like to discuss anything else here, even though apparently only four people on this website actually play Mass Effect.

Why though? The ending to ME3 is a vital part of the game hence it should be in the official thread. As long as everyone can maintain friendly debate I see no reason why not to discuss it here.

Like I said: by all means, carry on.

Response has been moved here. I probably won't get back to you until tomorrow at the earliest, maybe later. Motions to draft. I didn't even get to drink myself silly tonight.

I'm finding that trying to do Silver with a Vanguard who doesn't know how to play Vanguard is worse than doing Silver with an empty spot.

Since vanguards seem to die at an extremely higher rate if they're stupid. Is it because people get killed trying to revive said vanguard?

I think this mostly boils down to a few key things.

1. People's expectations were so unrealistically high that they had to nitpick everything in the game.
2. The game was made by Bioware so haters gonna hate.
3. People were so mad about the day one DLC, online pass and how the MP/SP cross over with each other in a kind of lame way that they made a way bigger deal about every little thing.
4. People in general are petrified of change and surprises and that ending was quite unexpected.

Honestly this ending thing about ME3 reminds me of the Skyrim issues and how they were blown into ridiculous proportions. Even if you don't like the ending in ME3, most videogames don't even come close to having as good of an ending as this game does (videogame endings in general are mostly not all that great).

1. I disagree. The games ending didn't measure up to what Bioware promised. Casey Hudson said the game wouldn't have an A, B, or C ending. That's exactly what it had. He also said that since this is the last game in the trilogy they had the freedom to make divergent multiple endings. His reason being that they wouldn't be limited by having to account for player decisionsin ME3. None of that came to fruition in the ME3 ending. It's essentially one ending with minor differences.

2. I disagree with this as well. Bioware's biggest fanboys are at the BSN forums. The forum topic about the ending their has a poll and 89% of the respondents were disliked the ending.

3. Again I disagree. People were so pissed off by the ending that the Day One DLC/Online pass issue has been swept by the way side. You have CNN and Fox covering the story now. Over $50,000 has been donated to charity in "Retake Mass Effect" campaign. Bioware had locked down a section of their official forum because of the outrage. Then they reopened it with an official thread asking what players didn't like about the ending.

4. People were pissed off at the plot holes. ME2's Arrival DLC established that an exploding Mass Relay has the force of Super Nova. No matter what ending you choose all the relays are destroyed. Which means nearly all life in the ME Galaxy should have been wiped out. The Normandy was with the combined Galactic Fleet above Earth and suddenly it's at FTL out running some explosion. One of, or in some cases both, squadmates you take into the final battle on Earth exit the Normandy's hatch after it crashes. That's not even possible. The Illusive Man controlling Shepard and Anderson was plot hole. Indoctrination has never worked that way throughout the entire series. The reason the Catalyst gave for creating the Reapers made no sense. To stop synthetics from wiping out organics, the Catalyst creates a fleet of synthetics that wipe out organics. The ending literally made no sense. It reminds me of the Mass Effect Deception debacle.

Not sure if we're still doing spoiler tags so I covered part of my post.

Wondering how people feel about the Mass Effect multiplayer. So far, most comments I've seen by people have player say that it is good fun. My only problem with it is that it is quite limited by the small number of map (there are only 6). With 5 galactic regions, only one region has more than one location (that one being Alliance space). Ignoring the 'plot hole' that success in one remote location can have such a profound impact on the galactic war, who else would appreciate Bioware increasing the draw and variety of multiplayer by adding some new locations (say another 2 in each region)?

I agree that they should add other regions as well, mostly because all the maps are based on the N7 missions only. But I thoroughly enjoy the MP as it is and it has a lot of room for the developers to add things to it, so it can only improve.

I more mean add more locations into the 5 regions to create a bit more variety. A few of the isolated Terminus planets that have been attacked, ruins of planets that have already fallen and stuff needs to be extracted, and bases/stations that are being raided. Personally, my favourite concept is a spacesport on Illium that has turned into an evac/refugee centre (depending on whether the planet has been attacked or not). Just it to feel more like a Galaxy at War, with the locations being more widespread.

guys please boycott this operation goliath

everyone at retake mass effect and on the bioware forums are doing so

No. No, I don't think so. I'm all in support of BioWare doing ending DLC and modifying what's already there, but the multiplayer is legitimately fun and I'm having fun playing it with my friends. This Operation Goliath gives us something to work toward.

it is fun, but boycotting such events as a protest that we want a new ending as free dlc will possibly make it free.

Being in 3rd place never felt so good
