I don't think the PSV will outsell the PSP.
But don't think the 3DS will outsell the DS either.

It's very difficult indeed and if it remain pirate-free, it's impossible.
Same with Vita and PSP.

I'm not sure this argument is helping your point. PSP had GTA, the biggest franchise at the time and still didn't manage to outsell the DS. So why would having Call of Duty be any different? |
Hopefully (fingers crossed) piracy isn't that big of an issue with the Vita. Took away to much potential for the PSP, a game just couldn't sell on it. But the PSP was just Sony getting there foot in the door into the handheld market, doing 70 million against a Nintendo handheld is huge! they proved that they can make a big successful handheld and actually be able to compete against this bohemoth that Nintendo brought out, they now know what to do and what they should do for a very succesful handheld, this is only the beginining. They already proved that by basically fixing everything that was wrong with the PSP and coming up with the Vita.

I like what you said here and I agree with you. Who cares which one sales well. If both sell well and get good software support then the winner overall is the gamer and that's what really matters.
If I had the money then I would buy both but I don't at the moment .

Of course sales are important.
It raises the chances of great games in the future for the console! Or do you think Vita pleases the eyes of let's say Yuji Hori selling 10k per week in japan? Or do you think sony is willing to invest how many millions on the next uncharted if the thing is not selling very well?
Sales are everything, so they equal quality! But of course both can do well!

And you are seriously overestimating the power of having a portable Call of Duty. Only kids would appreciate that really since adults knows how kiddy it looks to play a fucking portable at work. (Oh wait, you mean actual school lunch breaks? Would make more sense then.)
People will prefer the far superior home console versions. No doubt or whatsoever. |
I'm talking on the bus, train, lunch break at work/school, whatever.
Don't see what difference is between playing a Vita at work and playing angry birds on your phone. Not everyone is so self-conscious.
Adults would benefit the most from a portable COD since they spend the least time at home in front of a TV.

I love my Vita and 3DS. I hate Sony fans for ruining it for me. |
The point is that if Sony could sell ~60million PS3s(and counting) with such a horrible launch and high price, an $80 difference between Vita and 3DS won't be as much of an obstacle as the high PS3 price. Vita is affordbale despite many people asking for a price cut. It will sell well once the big games come out. FIFA really helped Vita in UK and I expect COD to do the same in the US. Vita will probably struggle until the holidays. After the holidays word of mouth will be really high and the install base will be high enough to satisfy 3rd party developers.
