Forums - Sales Discussion - PS Vita to be the number one selling console/handheld in the new gen

I've said it many times Nintendo has held the handheld crown for far to long the Vita is hear and it's a force to reckon with. What with the perfect controls to a handheld gaming device, great new app features and some of the top graphics out there it's only a matter of time before it begins to outsell the competition. Price is a little to high for now but as price cut's come sales will explode time after time.

Games like Monstrer Hunter, Resident evil and Final fantasy hit in Japan there's no telling how high sales can get, and Call of Duty in Amarica, now finally with the perfect controls and portability it's going to be a huge hit. And of course the one and only big game Gran Turismo would be absolute devine in Europe, throw in some Fifa games and we once again we got some big system sellers.

Now I can see the 3DS market drying up within a few years, there main seller is the 3D and there really isn't much potential there, a lot of complaints of head aches and limiting age group, the updated graphics isn't huge and from what we seen from the Wii it limited the amount of quality games from other big companies, there's a huge library of games out now can be ported to the PS Vita with similar graphics, huge potential. And honestly I dunno how long Nintendo can keep up the remakes and sequels to the same games they have, how many more decades are people going to buy basically the same game with updated graphics and a new name of console next to the title, not saying they don't make new IP's but they really should invest more money in it.

Yeh the PS Vita has a way to go but give it time, soon enough it'll take over, much like the PS3 many more price cuts left to come.

Sounds overly optomistic, and seriously lacking in seeing what Nintendo has up their sleeve.

Nevermind the Vita has to overcome 3 MAJOR obstacles: 3DS head start, Price gap, and having no flagship on the level of Mario.

- Monster Hunter, Resident Evil, and Final Fantasy have allready released on the 3ds. Vita wont benefit as much if 3ds gets them first.

- COD will be console based and thats how its gonna stay. COD vita will be as relevant as the Wii version....im dead serious.

You see the 3ds market drying up in a few years...I see the Vita market drying up in a few months. I just dont see this thing being successful when you could buy a Wii and 3 games, 360, a PS3, or a 3ds and 3 games. Nevermind the tablet and smartphone industry only leaving room for one dedicated game handheld to thrive.....and that spot has been reserved for the 3ds.

Cant tell if this post was serious, but if it is someone has to tell people like you that the PS2 days are looong dead.

PLAYSTATION NETWORK. Cross-platform gameplay.

Nuff said.

Hard to tell... nintendo has several console movers under their sleeve, sony however only has GT which is only big in europe. COD & MH could probably help, but they will rely a lot on 3rd parties so what if does games do not succeed? Does sony really have a plan B?... I hope the vita the best of luck, but I dont think is going to outsell the 3ds.

Plan B is obviously a price cut.
If sales are alarmingly low in ~6 months then they will cut.

This is how it would happen in a perfect world. It is far from it though.

No a perfect world is Nintendo continuing there handheld domination. It's time for things to change. It's going to be an exciting world :)

No. Nintendo will just counter a price drop with another price drop, and the 3DS still has 3DS Lite 3DS XL etc to boost sales. 3DS has many good years to come.

Sony is going to beat it in graphics and that's it.

Plus Sony doesn't have the Pokemanz. Don't say Monster Hunter because It's already out on the 3DS (amirite?)

Edit: Also noted you said Call of Duty. It was on the DS and none gave a rats behind. I fail to see how the Vita version will change things. Not to mention Call of Duty is brotacular social game on consoles, have yet to see it work on the go.

DS COD games were completely different than console versions.

PS Vita COD will be on par with PS3 and have cross platform play. Hell I can see many PS3 owners buying a Vita version to play during lunch break and stuff like that.  You're seriously underestimating how big of a deal dual analog sticks are.

I disagree with some here... it isnt too early to say

It just isnt going to happen.

Sony managed to sell 60 MILLION PS3s despite the $599 launch price.

I think Vita has a chance  to outsell the 3DS. Not now, not in 6 months. Let's see where Vita sales stand in 18-24 months compared to 3DS.

And you are seriously overestimating the power of having a portable Call of Duty. Only kids would appreciate that really since adults knows how kiddy it looks to play a fucking portable at work. (Oh wait, you mean actual school lunch breaks? Would make more sense then.)

People will prefer the far superior home console versions. No doubt or whatsoever.

I guess you wanted to show us your style remained the same. I'm starting to remember why I skipped your threads.

It is  100% guaranteed that the gap between the two will be bigger than what it is now in 24 months. I think that ship has already sailed. Maybe after  Vita becomes cheaper it may close the gap.

Let's hope you have a plan, I'd love to be a part of that world :).

Yeah, the people buy everything from Nintendo even when the games are almost identical to it's predeccesor. Let's bring Fifa and Call of Duty for Vita, oh wait...

In al seriousness, I really hope Vita does good even when in this generation I'm on Ninty's side but is too early to tell. The graphics are good so it will not age as far as 3DS, but the critical part are (and always will be) the games.

That's different, Nintendos first party is basically unsurpasable, put the name Mario, Zelda, or Kart on the box and Nintendo fans go ape sh*t over it and every single owner buys it, thats why Nintendo fans buy Nintendo consoles to only buy these games. But right now Call of Duty is the thing this genration it's the biggest game's people are buying. Like last gen, what was the biggest games on the PS2? GTA. Then the PSP releases and what became the biggest selling game on the PSP? GTA.

I'm not sure this argument is helping your point. PSP had GTA, the biggest franchise at the time and still didn't manage to outsell the DS. So why would having Call of Duty be any different?
