Oh people care, there are still Sony fans here that will celebrate with a thread with pictures of PS3 cakes and lots of smileys, the last one was seriously worrying.

Yeah, I've had the celebration thread typed up since 2010. Just waiting for the appropriate time to submit it

soon...

For a visual representation:

This pic is actually inspired by true events.

In terms of years in existence the PS3 has outsold the 360. In terms of actual numbers, the PS3 will take a little while longer to outsell the 360.

After this fiscal year and a bit more, I'd say. So, April-October 2013.

Not that it will really matter though, even if in the end the PS3 builds a gap of it's own as it keeps selling in other regions long after Wii/X360 have faded.

There will most likely be an Xbox 360 price cut this year so I don't think PS3 has a chance to win this year despite the lead it currently has this year. So unless PS3 also gets a price cut I don't expect the gap to lower significantly any time soon.

I dont think a price cut will entice people to buy more 250GB 360's. There will possibly be a boost during september if the price drops and a holiday boost as well, but thats about it. The Kinect bundle is what has been hot since the end of 2010 and that I believe is $299. Microsoft will try to bag as many actual gamers as they can, but it wont be a match for those Kinect attach rate numbers. Microsoft needs to get more exclusives or Kinect will continue to be where the hot sales are coming from.

Has more room for price cuts??

Not really, Sony is bleeding money they cant afford anymore cuts.

I predicted 1st half 2014 but im not sure, Microsoft will cut the price of Xbox and Kinect this year and sales will rise after August so its anyone´s games.

Microsot doesnt cut Xbox 360 price since 2008, Kinect should already be at 99$ and Xbox Arcade at 149$ or 129$.

Sony isnt bleeding money. They've made profit, but the only questionable thing they are doing is the Vita launch. Its a very trying time for handhelds, coupled with the fact that Sony electronics is hurting financially. Kaz has run the game division well which is why they want him to help out with the rest of Sony.

I think 2011 sales proved that 360 owners don't care about exclusives.
The only big exclusive was Gears 3 and it sold well! The best selling Kinect game was Just Dance 3(multiplatform) wasn't it?

in terms of years of existance, the wii has massively outsold the PS2. Yet no one is expecting it to outsell it lifetime anymore are they? The PS3's year 6 will be nowhere near how high the 360's was. I think it will take a very very long time. If the nextbox is signifcantly more expencive than the 360, I think it will never happen. As the 360 will just be the cheap holiday gift that the ps2 was in 2006 and 2007 for americans..

Just Dance and Dance Central 2 were close in sales on the Kinect. 2011 didn't prove that 360 owners dont care about exclusives though. Exclusives sell very well on the 360, its just that there are so few of them. Forza 4's value is dropping off the face of the earth WW. I have a feeling that Microsoft will drop Forza if the next one doesnt sell really well. It seems racing simulators are losing their luster. Microsoft needs some more hot exclusives, and I believe they can do it with a couple years left in the gen before they launch a new console. Theres always E3.

Anyway, yeah...Kinect is what is selling the 360 right now.

Wrong gen bro. Wrong gen. The PS3's year six could just as well outsell the 360's. They've virtually outsold the 360 year for year. They just haven't outsold them in total numbers (essentially making up for being a year behind). If the 360 and the PS3 launched together based on numbers, the PS3 would be ahead by quite a bit.

i love the way some one brings wii u up into the conversation ,

firstly ms can not combat it ,
the 360 is a gen behind
2ndly the question was when can ps3 equal to 360 ltd , -- and to answer - nope it will not,

its impossible,
due to 2 key factors
1 -wii u launching
2 360 can drop its price and ps3 can not
3 even if it did - 360 already proved it can out sell ps3 while ps3 took its price cut

fact is , ms did everything except xbox live right this gen ,
sony just screwed up and honestly they had it coming to them last gen by letting all their what used to be exclusives go third party on multiple consoles,

and if vita does not get games soon , i for sure wont be supportive of sony either ,
