i don't understand why people want re5 on the wii.
if you really wanted the game THAT badly then you wouldn't settle for a crummy downgraded port =\
how about a resident evil built specifically for the wii?

Maybe because 3 RE games in less then a year would be overkill that could hurt the sales of the currently available ones. Fans of the series should buy Umbrella Chronicles because the game is ok, but it's a blast to revisit the old locations (especially the mansion) and fill the gaps in the story. BTW am I the only one that really liked the camera settings in the pre-4 games. The controls were pretty bad in these games, but I loved the tension that was caused by the static camera. I missed that in 4 (though everything else in that was amazing). |
There are elements of the old control style I liked, mainly that it made fighting slow and dumb zombies much more challenging (and in a way realistic) ... In general I'm glad they moved away from those controls because the heal turning was far too frustrating
I'd love the chance to choose a "downgraded" version with wiimote controls over the "superior" graphical powerhouse controller version personally.
Why must it be one or the other? Gamecube had tons of resident evil games and i'm sure the Wii will probably get just as many IMO.
Those people that think they're perfect give a bad reputation to us who are...
"With the DS, it's fair to say that Nintendo stepped out of the technical race and went for a feature differentiation with the touch screen, but I fear that it won't have a lasting impact beyond that of a gimmick - so the long-lasting appeal of the platform is at peril as a direct result of that." - Phil Harrison, Sony

Numbers are like people. Torture them enough and you can get them to say anything you want.
VGChartz Resident Thread Killer
I cant see it Steve 3.2 - the day Capcom lower there standards and give us a crap Wii game we'll see but so far all 3 titles have been high quality. They may just be the third party that others inspire to be as the Wii gets taken seriously by these other devs in 08.

given both options, you would choose a wii version over the 360/ps3/PC versions? see, i don't understand that =\ i would love an re2 remake on for wii though :)

Well since you put it that way... Obviously you must belief that our desire to see RE5 on the Wii must be nothing more than a fanciful whim that we just came up without any prior thought or planning as there's really no other way to explain why you thought making such a post would bring any previously lacking illumination to this thread..
Seriously though...
I'll take RE5 built specifically for the Wii, does that work for you? And with brilliant logic like, "If you want a game that badly for the Wii you wouldn't settle for a Wii version", it's not hard to see why you don't understand the situation here. To each their own.

If they're still working on it as a 360/PS3 multiplat, then that's probably how it'll be released (later Wii port possible), but they might've changed it into a multiplat for all consoles, or even a Wii exclusive (not likely) for all we know. Umbrella Chronicles is showing surprising legs. I was pretty sure it wouldn't reach a million, but now it looks like it just might be able to crawl up there eventually. |
It's been done once already by Capcom in Monster Hunter 3. I doubt it will happen again so soon as this may enrage fans. Anyways, I think we'll start to see older RE remakes with Wii controls and new graphics or RE5 side story.
My themeforest portfolio:
Unlike MH3, Resident Evil is a proven franchise on Nintendo so I doubt it will enrage fans.
