I was just browsing the app store on my iPod Touch and noticed something suspicious in the top paid apps listing, as you'll see in this screenshot...

Obviously it was a surprise to see Pokemon on the app store, but as you can probably gather from its rating and who developed it, It turns out it's a scam, using the Pokemon name to try and make the developer some money with the release of a broken app. I particular like the cheeky review listings with no sources...

And here's what people that unfortunately fell for the scam are saying about it...

The question is, how did this ever get through the approval process? Did it not raise a flag that a major IP was being released on to the app store by someone with no association to Nintendo or Game Freak?

Not as far as I know, I believe Apple/whoever has to approve games/apps for release (From my experience with the App Store proccess anyway), so this is in any case sloppy work by the person/people that approved this.

huh... so Apple's draconian approval process fails just as much as Androids open process.... yay for imaginary security!!! (just like their PCs)

OT, it really amazes me how little people read before they download/purchase stuff off of the internet. A quick look at that game's author should have given anyone 2nd thoughts.

Same thing amazes me when people download an android app for say wallpaper, when one of its permissions is full network access and SMS control. Why the F would a wallpaper need that? lol, people usually deserve the mess they get into for pure stupidity.
