So, I was a planetn2000 and ign64/cube guy for the majority of my first 6 to 7 years browsing the game web from 1998 to 2006. I always liked when ign brought up NPD and Enterbrain game sales numbers, the reason being that I could not get over how much Nintendo got booted off the charts by Sony, and I was looking forward to a comeback. It was always nice to see one or two Nintendo hit piercing Sony's dominance with either Pokemon or Super Smash Bros, and such.
One of my greatest regrets in the industry was Square's departure from Nintendo. Ever since then, I was hopeless to find a mainstream Final Fantasy announced for anything else than a Wonderswan, a mobile platform or playstation and onto a Nintendo platform.
With that interest in Japanese sales, I ended up on a site called the-magicbox.com . It was a site that specialized in Japanese gaming news in English, and they had both a sales section and a most wanted section. I followed that site for 3-4 years before fully transitioning to VGChartz. I found VGChartz in 2006 when I realized how much data they had, the column graphs on the main page, the line graphs of all the consoles, comparable by aligned launch. The articles were excellent and I noticed they were not at all anti-Nintendo like most non-Nintendo sites, actually they were even a little pro-Nintendo. I immediately fell in love.
Though the years of Sony domination repeatedly reminded me of how much Sony toppled the old king, my time here following the sales charts showed me how much the Nintendo Revolution turned the tables once again.
At first I registered to post comments on articles. When I noticed some posters from the forum posting in the comments section, I became interested in debating with them in the threads. When I joined the forum I realized that being a fanboy was not cool, and not pleasant for anyone. I also started to pay attention to MS and Sony games, something I had never done before. That exposure led me to more openness, and I've learnt a ton of tolerance on this site. There is so much this community has given me in return for my time of coming here.
Now, with a sense of having come full circle, I want to offer something in return. That's why I want to help make this community a better place.
