A release in 2016 was Sony's plan all along, because...

http://news.cnet.com/sony-ps3-is-hard-to-develop-for-on-purpose/

"We don't provide the 'easy to program for' console that (developers) want, because 'easy to program for' means that anybody will be able to take advantage of pretty much what the hardware can do, so then the question is, what do you do for the rest of the nine-and-a-half years?" explained Hirai.

Jokes on you. that Febuary wasn't a leap year.

What do you mean?

I was originally going to say that "I tripped and fell 3 years in the past". Then I convinced myself that was an old redundant joke ... so I alluded to that same fact differently ... without it sounding like a beaten to death rol joke.

Edit: and in case you still don't get it, I'm saying that the ten year cycle, hard PS3 developing, etc jokes are old.

I just hope it lives up the the hype. It's rare for a anything to live up the level of expectations the mystery surrounding this game has generated. Ico is my favorite PS2 game. I wasn't a fan of SotC so I'm hoping for something more like Ico than it, which would probably piss off the majority of Team Icos fans since SotC seems to get more love.

Doesn't make sense to me.

However, what does is you believing that I dug up a joke article without realizing that it is one and the proof [for it being a joke article] would be the date which was February 28, 2009. And a February 28 only happens all four years, in a leap year. At least that is what you assumed when you posted. But actually, February has 28 days every year and 29 in a leap year.

Let me put it in simpler terms. I indirectly pointed out that was an old article. An article you used to support a very old joke.

I think you are just trying to cover up now. My explanation sounds more plausible than yours.

February 28, you speaking of leap years... that would be too much of a coincidence.

hmmm, you seem confused to what a leap year is. Let me explain that to you as well. A leap year is the year in the Gregorian calender that contains an extra day - to catch up with the with the 4 quarter days that are not counted in the 3 years prior to that. On the fourth year, an extra day is added in February to compensate the missing quarters.

2012 just so happens to be a leap year. This February will have 29 days. The year that article was posted was in 2009, not a leap year, and ironically enough, on the last day of February.

sigh. It's never fun explaining a joke. Anyways, when I said " Jokes on you, that wasn't a leap year" I'm not only implying your article is old, I'm also being educational by adding real life examples. Now you know what a leap year is.

The question is is it really worth all this investment? Shadow of the Colossus at 1.1 million, Team Ico Collection at .6 (though with room to grow), is it even physically possible for this game to turn a profit?

Though it will make a good deal of revenue if released (even if potentially a loss overall), so it would still be worth it in the long run, it just seems like the project had run into the kind of trouble where it's existence could be put in doubt.

No problem. They can just release what they have now as The Last Guardian: Prologue to fund the rest of the game's development. Sony fans love paying for demos.

The term "Rome wasn't built in a day" seems fitting. After pateintly waiting for ANYTHING in regards to KOTOR for 8ish years (in the form of TOR) and Alan Wake for 5ish years, I'm certain waiting for Last Guardian will pay off in the long run.

At this point you could also add 'A watched pot never boils'
Do we really need an article about tlg every couple days about how long it takes.

As you said, let's give the team time to finish their baby without the "Just quickly release whatever is there, it probably won't be a commercial success anyway" doom talk. After Ico and SotC they deserve all the time they need in my book.

Ill gain interst back once it releases. Idk seems like theres not much to look forward to yet.

Sony can't really drop the game now after it's gotten hyped out of porportion.
They'll make it even if they lose money.

No kidding, what a disaster so far.

Sony can't even do greed properly

I don't normally predict failure. And I won't predict it now.

It's possible the devs just bit off more than they can chew. He wouldn't be the first developer to do that. But I hope that's not the case.

I'd hope that after 6 years, it's playable and interersting in some form even if far from complete. If not, Sony Should have canned it imo.
