Forums - Sony - Sony spends $50M on PS Vita marketing in U.S.A.

I really hope for Sony that the Vita sells well there, though I don't think it will make a big impact. Where I live (In the Netherlands), I know four people who know about the Vita, and that's because I told them about it. I haven't seen anything about it in Dutch media yet, so I don't think the masses will go to the Vita.

$50 million won't make a big impact. By contrast MS spent $500 million to market a new product.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

i think they should focus more on their playstation suite or what ever it is called and get their games to more phones through it. Still have the vita but try and get those games to more people for more sales. Not sure how their playstation suit is on phones as i dont have a smart phone, but i will be getting one and it will take the place of any handheld i could have.

meh, I go for $100 million!!! double or nothin Sony!!!

though I do hope to see some clever PSV ads(return of KB anyone?

I wonder how long it'll be advertised after launch

About time, Sony!

Still haven't seen anything over here, and $50 mil isn't huge (when compared to the $500 mil for Kinect and around $200 mil for 3DS). Sony's first hurdle will be to inform people about the Vita, then tell them why to buy one.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

next quarter's financials confirmed to be at least $50M in the red.

they did not, that was debunked by the financial report by MS. Marketing costs were up 15 % to 180 million (or something like that) - and that was for the whole EDD.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

500.....180, point still stands. $50 million is nothing when promoting a new handheld.

They really should have made a Super Bowl commercial >.>

We'll just have to wait and see how serious their ad campaign will be.
