Forums - Sony - PS4 for E3 2012, More at TGS - PSM3

I'm amazed that there are still many people who believe that it is unlikely.
What a company says and what a company does/plans are two different things. Of course Kaz won't say now that they're planning a reveal at E3, that would be stupid. And just because PS3 is (probably) profitable now doesn't really mean that they can't announce a new console either.

I think it's definitely possible that we see the PS4 at E3, but I wouldn't be surprised if we don't see it.

I actually think it's a great time to unveil the PS4 at this years E3, have it scheduled for late 2013/early 2014 release.

though I always wait 6 months-1 year before getting home consoles so all the bugs are fixed, and it gives me time to reduce my backlog.

Sweet... I am soooo ready to spend another $500 on a console just so I can play the EXACT SAME GAMES that I can enjoy now on PS360, just with a slightly higher resolution and better frame rate.

Not!

I don't know, do you think so? We got a LOT of new franchises with this generation, why would the next one be much different?

It still took a couple of years into the generation to get those new AAA franchises that we are currently enjoying, like Gears, Uncharted, Assasin's Creed, etc.  Go back and look at the 360's launch lineup.. it's mostly just ports of previous gen-games with an HD skin slapped on them to look pretty, and a couple of mediocre exclusives like PD Zero and Kameo.  Same thing with PS3 a year later, which had a terrible launch.  Only notable games were Resistance and a Motorstorm demo.

This time around, with the current gen consoles being so prolific around the world, and with publishers and developers looking to cut losses and reduce risk anyway they can in this economy, do you really thing they are going to jump ship and focus all their efforts on the next-gen consoles as soon as they launch?  Nope... the first 18-24 months of the next generation are going to be filled with ports as most companies continue to release games with multiple versions for new and previous gen consoles to maximise profits.  You think Activision is going to suddenly stop putting out COD games on PS360 once the new systems launch?  Or no more Assasin's Creed or pretty much any other major multiplatform franchise for that matter on current systems?

The longer the wait is for the next generation, the better, because you'll have better hardware at more bang for your buck, and software companies will actually be able to focus on the new systems, which means new and exclusive games for us instead of nothing but ports and a couple of 1st party exclusives here and there.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

And if it was the Xbox 720, it would be different?

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."  --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials

um nintendo did that with the dsixl . so why not ,
whats the difference? we knew about wii u since last year didn't we not . .

if sony was going to announce it . they would say so just like nintendo did with wii u then called project cafe

guess you forget project cafe was rumored and then confirmed before e3 even happened lol
so no there will not be a ps4 or 720 this year .

sony and ms knows their plans they have already stated so so i dont know why you would think they be lying

if they lied wouldn't that hurt them with their customers?

cause if they said there was no ps4 at e3 then people bought a ps3 . .

they come to e3 w a ps4 .
--- wouldn't people who bought ps3 already regret that? think about it

Lets hope that Sony can make this thing powerful, affordable, and profitable. I think the key to next gen is usability, and 1080P/60FPS minimum requirement for all games. Let people check apps, browse the web, steam video/music, and keep a game going in the background and consumers should be really happy.

Time to hibernate tell June.

There will not be a 60fps minimum requirement on games next gen. There never has been. There never will be. Developers will always always always opt for more effects at 30fps than less effects at 60fps. It's the rare and precious ones who go for smoothness over flair.

Exactly and that's also how I personally want it to be. On the PC you can spend that overhead on fantastic framerates but on consoles rendering power will always be scarce and developer ambitions high.

Nope, which is why I said PS360.  I'm sick of all the trumped up rumors by fanboys insisting that Sony and M$ are gonna announce new systems at E3 and that they are both coming out within a year or so.

I don't want a new generation of consoles, at least not for another couple of years, because they aren't necessary just yet, which I explained why in one of my previous posts in this thread.

I sure hope so. It needs a side-by-side launch with the next Xbox.

yes an aligned launch would be ideal for Sony if not a yr. before, but i know what your getting at.

it'd be nice to see PS4 announced at 2012 E3, but for me the release date would be to soon. i've (mostly) always said 2014, but holiday season 2013 is when the war begins again.
