I don't know, do you think so? We got a LOT of new franchises with this generation, why would the next one be much different? |
It still took a couple of years into the generation to get those new AAA franchises that we are currently enjoying, like Gears, Uncharted, Assasin's Creed, etc. Go back and look at the 360's launch lineup.. it's mostly just ports of previous gen-games with an HD skin slapped on them to look pretty, and a couple of mediocre exclusives like PD Zero and Kameo. Same thing with PS3 a year later, which had a terrible launch. Only notable games were Resistance and a Motorstorm demo.
This time around, with the current gen consoles being so prolific around the world, and with publishers and developers looking to cut losses and reduce risk anyway they can in this economy, do you really thing they are going to jump ship and focus all their efforts on the next-gen consoles as soon as they launch? Nope... the first 18-24 months of the next generation are going to be filled with ports as most companies continue to release games with multiple versions for new and previous gen consoles to maximise profits. You think Activision is going to suddenly stop putting out COD games on PS360 once the new systems launch? Or no more Assasin's Creed or pretty much any other major multiplatform franchise for that matter on current systems?
The longer the wait is for the next generation, the better, because you'll have better hardware at more bang for your buck, and software companies will actually be able to focus on the new systems, which means new and exclusive games for us instead of nothing but ports and a couple of 1st party exclusives here and there.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.
