Forums - Sales Discussion - NPD January: X360 #1 270k, 49% share, PS3 > Wii = 281k Combined

It is strange that Pachter questioned the numbers from NPD, but MS didn't and still used them in the press release.

I LOL at people who say X360 wasn't the best selling console in 2011.

Deal with it fanboys XD

Nobody said the Xbox 360 wasn't the best selling console.

After all, for the last 11 Months it's held 40% marketshare in the US!

The January sales is so sad. But I still feel happy that Microsoft now officially claimed XBOX360 was the best-selling console in 2011 and delivered the promise of Don Mattrick made on the stage of last year E3.

Ugh, xbox360 was the most shipped console, not the best selling.

According to vgchartz. They have been way off in the last few months.

Yes, they've been overtracking the 360. How does that help your point?

They have been overtracking the ps3 as well and they have been overtracking the ps3 in europe by greater numbers than 360 in the US.

Nintendo could be wrong, I mean who are you going to trust; a trusted family company that specialises in video game related products or statement based on lack of evidence.

To be fair, Nintendo could actually be wrong. The numbers they provide for Europe is a mix of tracker (when available, and I think that tracker is GFK, or something) and logical data estimations where tracker information isn't available. Given I assume logical data estimations will deal with the smaller countries and not the bigger ones.
