I'm sure the 3DS Lite or whatever will come with a second circle pad as a standard so I can't get excited about this.

I went to pick up Resident Evil Revelations at Gamestop the other day along with the Circle Pad Pro and the last one they had was reserved! They said they wouldn't get another shipment until freaking March! I NEED it to play Metal Gear Solid. Guess I'll be buying online....

perhaps...but it isn't. and it is worth having...so just buy it. and it also adds ZR and Zl shooulders which cant fit on the unit in its compact size, so its a win
I just bought it last night, and I have to agree with your review. It's surprisingly well fitted for 3DS; I mean, after you get over its cosmetic fugliness, it's actually a cool add-on.
Honestly, I think they could've just added a detachable thumb stick on the 3DS Hand Grip (on top of the Power button), but that seems a little more complicated...
it's fugly, but so comfortable! and after playing RE: Revelations with and without, it's works flawlessly and adds a lot to the options for 3DS control.

Triggers feel natural? Haha oh wow. That's my biggest complaint with the bloody thing. The thing feels like Nintendo didn't test it at all. Reaching the L1 button is awkward, unnatural and ultimately a nuisance due to it being the only indented trigger. I find myself not using the device in RE Revelations even though it gives me a massive control advantage by letting me move while aiming due to its bulky size. Also unsurprisingly I don't think the game even utilizes the L1 trigger and uses L2 only, but correct me if I'm wrong. We'll see how well Kingdom Hearts utilizes it, that's the deal breaker for me. It's hard to recommend at its price tag now when only 2 games support it at the moment from what I'm aware of.
On the plus side I do not see it ever becoming redundant since it has essentially 4 triggers (3 of which are on the device itself), something which I do not see a 3DS revision replicating except on maybe the 3DS XL which won't be out for a while I'd imagine.
It needs a Rumble Pak.
My feelings about it have changed since the day I got it. I'd give it an 7.5/10, now. It's pretty cool. If there were a way to reach my stylus, change the game, and turn Wi-Fi on/off, I'd give it another half a point. It just improves the RE experience so much. I find myself never wanting to take it off, even when I play a game that doesn't support it. Another version with a stylus holder and a built in battery would be a must-own for me.
